PS3 is an enjoyable game I love how the generation system worked and wish it was in more games, however I really don't like the ties it had to the real PS series, it would be a fine stand alone game but its kinda like SFN its got the name but its just not a SF game, same way in this case.

I love PS3. I just love the characters - they might be very underdeveloped in the game itself, but they have so much potential in my opinion. You get just enough in the game itself to extrapolate your own ideas about personalities and motives...I'm not saying that's a good thing, I would rather have had it spelled out for me ( a la PS4's pretty blatant 'This is Rune, he's snarky and knows more than you', 'This is Kyra, she's a hothead tomboy') but as others have pointed out, the flaws in the game are more a result of process than premise.
Anyway I'm desperately looking forward to Kalbelgarion's PS3 remake. Every time I trip past his site to check out the screenshots I get a little bit more hyper :D

That explains why, even with a great characted design, the monsters have only 2-4 frames of animation. So that's why the mazes are so semplic, and so on. Of all four it was the game with most potential, it's a shame that only a small bit of this potential was actually used.

Hey! At least the enemies had animations. FF 2 and 3 for the SNES, most of the enemies just BLINKED when they attacked. Freaking blinked!
Animated enemies didn't show up till ff7 or so.
Hell, animated enemies makes up for the crappy battle engines of 2 and 3 for the SNES.

I LOVED PSIII. It had marriages in it, it spanned generations of a family. I loved that part. The story of Orakio and Laya was a great one. The only thing I didn't like the lack of character development. After you played PSIV, you fall so in love with Chaz and co. PSIV made you feelas if you were part of the game, it's that intimate and intense.

I liked PSIII. It had its flaws, and I spent a year wondering what to do with the sub parts until one day I accidently stepped on the one panel of desert by the water and got the transformation. Nearly gave me a heart attack.
Wrote a couple of fanfics on the game though, because I always felt it was under-represented.
~Synth

PSIII is my second-least favorite PS game (PSI being the least favorite). The game feels so..disconnected from the rest of the PS series, the random enconter rating was far too high, the techniques were very off from the rest of the PS series (Gires is just Sar!), the tech distribution thing was just strange, and the game had almost no legitimate start to finish story.

Yes PSIII has the largest and most beautiful selection of characters. The generations system is very unique as well as the party system where the overworld music improves as there are more party members in your group. It's quite epic. And the plottwist is very good too.
Dark Force looks different from the others but the music rocks. Well pretty much all the music in PSIII is a masterpiece.

I liked PSIII; it is an RPG that gives room for imagination, something that you don't see nowadays. I think that it's one of the most misunderstood RPGs out there. And Gipper, I'm curious as to what you mean by this:

the game had almost no legitimate start to finish story.

Care to expound? What wasn't legitimate about it?

Tell me, do you breath when you talk to people? Or does the wind constantly flow in through your ears to supply to your vacant cerebrum with an endless supply of fuel cells to keep your lips flapping?

The combat sequences were horrible from animations to music to interface, the dungeon music made my ears bleed, non-healing techniques were useless, and the story was just about as detailed as the first two games.
Then again, it has SARI. I love PSIII.
