In the realm of theoretical physics? It's not too radical at all. Quite plausible, really. People actually get paid to sit around all day and think "what if" in physics. There are several theories about infinite alternate universes, where every possible outcome that could happen has happened. It makes my brain asplode, which is why people who are better with science think these things and not me. I can't explain other "other universes" theories, other than our universe is but one "layer" of many universes, all stacked on top of each other, like phyllo dough. It's like a baklava of universes. I might be hungry right now...
We already know that black holes screw with the laws of the universe. It's possible that if you could pass through a black hole (hahahahah*deep breath*ahahahahaha) you would wind up in an alternate universe. I know a lot of people like to roll their eyes at the idea of Aron going through a black hole and ending up near Earth in a different time, but it's not the dimension-hopping that's a problem with this oft-used sci-fi trope, it's surviving the black hole. No one knows what black holes are made of, so it's entirely possible to go through one, dense as they may be. And here's where I have to end my discussion, because any further and we're getting into quantum physics, hence brain explosion. My point is, dimensions/alternate universes are not impossible and Sol being Algo in another dimension is entirely possible. And black holes scare the piss out of me.
In fact, you kind of need the dimensions excuse to make this theory work, as Sega took an existing star, Algol, located in the constellation Perseus and is just under 100 light years away from us, to use as the star of their planetary system. Of course, Sega still got it wrong, as Algol is a ternary star system, whereas Sega's Algol is only one star.
