I think he could have lived on if he wanted to, but he would rather pass his memories on. I mean, really, his friends died 1,000 years ago, he had the horrible job of sending protectors on a mission of their doom, and without a telepathy ball he couldn't risk death, so he couldn't fight with them. <p>So he made a telepathy ball, maybe figuring he could start fighting biomonsters for the good of humanity once again while training espers, and then he died a peaceful death. <br>
