@Sky the same could be said if they are constantly being second guessed and having to change something they put a lot of effort into, it could wear them down and make them care about it less. (Which Sandy kind of gave off a strong feeling of this when he seemed annoyed about having to make another name change)

Unfortunately, Kyence felt a lot of pressure and this is why she changed the name with a name wich is not her choice from the beginning (especially when those things have been debated far before and didn't needed to be debated again).

Victor Ireland went around changing tons of NPC text and adding pop culture jokes just because it would be funny. Frankly, I think it's a terrible localisation practice and disrespectful to the source material.

We'll have to agree to disagree then. Though GameArts continued to work with Ireland/Working Designs from the SEGA CD through the PS1 era, so I suspect they were aware of these changes, and were ok with them.

Pretty rare but I agree about that. Creating jokes and references when there are none in the original text is a bit too much.

Contrary to using western references/jokes to replace eastern ones which are unknown to the western peoples are okay for me.

Not to be blunt, but the majority of those are all terrible ideas.

Considering how much I've personally pushed for this to be completed, the last thing needed are any last-minute script/naming changes. Leave things as they are for now and don't worry about it. I'll just be glad it is in English finally.

I am not asking, demanding, or suggesting any changes to the current script as it stands right now. It is perfectly awesome the way it is, IMHO.

For my personal use, I'd poke around myself and do the changes I like if/when the translation tools could be publically released.
Or in a last-resort scenario, I can just hex-edit stuff directly if I get the hex codes for the various letters and told whether they're big-endian or little-endian.

If text-compression is used for the game text, then I'd need a tool to decompress & recompress sections of text (or the entire script) for me to do those changes. Hopefully some public technical information will be released so that the romhacking community will benefit.

Friends, keep the discussions civil.

As for changes to the translation, that is something that we will leave on the capable hands of the people who have been working with the translation.

I think that you should perhaps look at the way that you are saying things...

It might come across as sounding less than constructive and even a bit demanding... I tend to think that the people doing this translation are already trying very hard and putting a lot of thought into it and they're doing it all on their own time and not asking for anything in return... I think that it's important to keep things in perspective.

I agree with Tryphon. I mean, you have to think ever since I signed on to this, there are two projects in the works again. So any kind of name change that affects both projects also stalls both projects. Case in point: Dark Falz. So... let's just look forward to PS gen:2 and the update to PS gen:1, yeah?

that's what I'm looking forward to :)
and why i didn't like the rather pointless delays over something that was supposedly decided a while back.

Couldn't somebody from the translation projects try to pitch them to SEGA in an attempt to make it a more official thing and show them there are people interested in an official english version of it? Who knows, maybe they could see we still want PS4 Remake and try to work on it, even if in a discreet way for now... A guy can dream, right?
