If you could make ANY changes to the ending, what would it be?

I would make it clear about if the Profound Darkness was destroyed or just sealed away. Would save the saliva we spend discussing this matter.

How more self-explanatory does the game have to be than that?
As for changes... well, PS4's ending is perfect the way it is, IMO.

[Edit by ThePeaGuy on [TIME]1108834474[/TIME]]

I don't know whether I'd change the ending. I'm happy with how all the characters developed towards the end and don't know whether I could actually improve the ending without destroying what it is. A nice ending, though not nearly as thought provoking or awe-inspiring as PSII's ending.

The only thing I would add might be an ending picture like for PSI with all the characters together (Or maybe another one after that with all the PS character taking a group picture)
But actualy I don't think it to be necessary, I like it the way it is.
Everything finish a new aera of peace has begun. When I finish PSII I am thrilled by the ending with a lot of action and things to imagine. In PSIV Everyone goes back to a normal life, it realy calmed me down. No need for anything else I think.

Anger...hatred...of all that lives... And, a great need to destroy! We've got to defeat this thing! This being must not be allowed to come to Algo!
RIKA: The portal is not yet completely open. We've got to take advantage of this opportunity, Chaz!

This could be enough to say that they only fought a fragment of it, no more than an arm or perhaps an extra head. Think PS2's Dark Force, but physically unstable and 10 or more times larger poking it's head out of a hole and trying to expand the hole so it's massive body can get out.
It's not actually said that it's the intire Profound Darkness or a fragment, but would you expect a being that's been waiting for thousands of years for it's release to stick around to kill a small amount of people that were there that have the equipment to stop it? You'd expect it to head somewhere where it could swiftly kill everyone and everything off in one shot. So it'd most likely just be part of it trying to get them out of the way.
That could be explained a bit more.

[Edit by Demon Child on [TIME]1108854492[/TIME]]

I was happy with how it turned out in the end.
There's one thing that puzzles me, though. Rune said he had to continue his training. What I don't understand is... Why? The Profound Darkness is defeated, but his duty as Lutz is not yet over? Does that mean there's something else out there that he knows about?

That's another way to look at it, PeaGuy. Although it still makes me wonder...
Don't mind me, I just like to think about alternatives to every possibility.

Dreamer -- I think you bring up a very interesting point.
Rune is responsible for protecting all of Algol, and we were left seeing him leave Chaz and Rika on Motavia. Correct me if I'm wrong, but as the protector of Algol, Rune HAS to spend some time there, along with Dezolis, as well -- where he probably conducts some of his training at the Esper Mansion.
My point here is this -- when Chaz asked Rune if they would ever meet again, Rune told him no. So, even though Rune visits Motavia from time to time -- Rune would never drop by for a visit to see his friend?
I think there is a lot more meaning to what Rune says at the ending than the obvious. I think Rune knew that Chaz was going to die before he reached thirty, and he really meant his good-byes.
Of course this is all just speculation based upon sega drawings, but it is possible, right?

[Edit by Rika on [TIME]1108858367[/TIME]]

Possible but Runes not like the futune teller, He can't predict the future, I loved PS4's ending however honesly I wanted to know more of what happened to the characters, Iwould really love to see Hahn's wedding and all the characters show up (maybe besides Rune) and have a big reunion party and visit Alys grave, then Chaz would prepose to Rika XD
honesly that would be sweet...
BTW by most fan game standereds the series really isn't finished yet, and as much as I would love to finish it myself (my storyline does end as much evil as were going to get in Algo then, however more could still happen) The main problem with that is I'm rather stuck on finishing it and honestly when I worked out how long it would take me to write the fan fic I'll seriously need about a month to get about 1/10th of the story done >.> (yes Its extreemly long, but its really interesting and if you thought PS4 had plot twists dear lord you haven't seen anything yet XD)
The only real problem I had with the ending was with Rika and Chaz, the first time I saw it them loving each other just really came out of no where, I wished we had some more interaction between them that showed that they liked each other...

[Edit by gm2987 on [TIME]1108862925[/TIME]]

Well, there are some hints at the affection they had for each other, such as Rika comforting Chaz over the death of Alys... where we see Chaz put his arm around her... Rika also was usually the one to talk to Chaz when Chaz would be angry... and then there's that part in the hunter's guild, where the guy in the bar tells Rika she's cute, and Chaz became angry and told him to shut up. ;)
But, I, too -- would love to have seen more romance between the two... sorry, I'm such a darn romantic.

Well, I honestly hated the happily-ever-after ending. I want something bad to happen! I want death! I want the Protectors to give something up for their victory! I want an unknown future...
But we get all these things in Phantasy Star II, correct? No, this is the end of the Phantasy Star series (at least for now) and we need closure. A clone of PSII's ending would have been very unsatisfying as well. Therefore, this ending is fitting.
