Phantasy Star 2 Remake - Screen Shots have been out!

Postby Malakai » Wed Jan 19, 2005 12:56 am

I never said the art or design wasn't good, I said the anime characters weren't hot. There is a big difference between saying that cartoon/anime art and saying, "That anime is sure cute!"
I'm not insulting anyone's opinion, rather I'm expressing a viewpoint. I simply don't see anime characters as hot, or attractive because they aren't real people, that's all. I can understand though if you give the same respect to an anime character as to a real person. After all, maybe even a 'make believe' character inspires someone to be a better person than a 'real life' model.

hey Hugh and Kain look hot (in a cool way).
well they all still look great. well yeah the Rolf on your sig is better but what can we do? Just accept the remake and enjoy it anyway. the PSII remake Rolf and everyone else still look awesome in their own way. (and check out Rolf's armor!!! much cooler than even its original design!)

Hey, no problem Romeo. You'll find that I express my opinion in a rather 'matter-of-fact' way which makes you think about what I might have meant. Don't worry, you didn't step on my toes. ;)

(Because your formulation implies the former...)

*sigh* That statement was more trouble than I thought it would be. Ok, let's get this straight...
I rarely, if ever, imply anything on internet forums because all too often people don't understand the direction of an implication in text. So, I was implying nothing in what I said. The statement means what it says with the words that I wrote. So, one more time.
I don't find anime attractive because they are ficticious personae and have no real connection in my life. PUNTO.
However, let's appropriate the subject now and become as real as possible, just to humor the masses. If somone were to draw an amazing portrait of say, my gf, then I would definitely consider the drawing attractive.
So in the end (remaining in the arena of drawn out personae), it depends on the applicability to my life that I find something attractive/interesting. FINE.

Ah, I see. Well, I wasn't sure if that implication was intentional or not, that's why I asked. Anyway, question answered.

[Edit by Werefox on [TIME]1106155349[/TIME]]

I could say the same of PSO. Most people on GameFAQs keep asking if the remakes are sequels to PSO, and when told they're not and that these are new incarnations of games from almost 20 years ago...well, they're shocked. As someone who recently tried PSO, I could personally take everything you just said and apply it to PSO since it's *nothing* like the original series

It's not as comparable because PSO is not a remake, and is its own series.

Art evolves. Look at any comic character.

Perhaps, but those weren't remakes and they didn't have to be the same. They have more artistic freedom. It would be like saying that PSII is a bad sequel because it doesn't have the same style as PSI's.

You seem to believe these games are bad because they're done in a different style. How can you tell others not to do the same?
Look man, this isn't like George Lucas with Star Wars saying the previous versions were inferior, and the latest redone versions are the *real* Star Wars, these are just new interpretations. What's so horrid about that?
-Corey

It is inspired by Phantasy Star, though, which is why it bears its name.

What I had in mind were how Superman changed through his TV career in different series and the movie serie, yet it was still Superman.

And is it just me, or does that last sentence...kinda contradict everything you've said? if it is connected, PSO doesnt even explain where they came from. maybe it's one of the ships that escaped Palm. but PSO is best regarded as a different universe.

Can't remember the thread I read it in, but didn't someone post a PSO timeline in which they state the Pioneer ships come from planet Coral in search for D-cells and "photon" energy?

[Edit by ROMeo on [TIME]1106267412[/TIME]]

just try to look at it this way. the new designs could be a SHITELOAD worse. Just from the screenshots and title screen, you can tell the artist put a lot of thought into the characters without bastardizing their original design, whether you loved it or not (lord knows i did). At least there's not some dumbass crazy cool in your face hip hop designs that turn our favorite characters into a bunch of chumps over packed with "attitude." The real treat will be seeing mota and dezo more in depth and animated and less dependent on my imagination then the first 17 times around.

I posted it for it is true.
It's even spoken of in the book of hunters about how Montague made MAGS from D-cells with a emotional AI to control them. He made them at 11 as part of Project Mother. D-cells evolve, as do mags.
The Mag blasts look the way they do on Ragol because of the abundant Photon energy.
