PSG1 Map Cheat/Hack

Having a minimap is a very common feature in first person perspective games, I'd go so far as to say it's the primary reason I was able to enjoy the Lightning Warrior Raidy games. Having some visual representation of where I am is quite helpful when everything looks the same. It's not like a first person perspective is so debilitating that we roam around for hours trying to find the bathroom, right?

I think many of us can agree that having the minimap unconditionally would correct the one glaring flaw in the otherwise masterful remake that was PSG1. With all of the great guides, fan games and other collaborations that have come out of this forum, surely we can put our heads together and figure out a way to make this happen. From a cheat coding perspective it doesn't seem that difficult. Setting the variable for the map to be on and possibly messing around with a step counter variable should be all that's needed to make this happen. Taking that principle into a Gameshark/Action Replay/PCSX2 cheat is where I'm a little short on know how.

Is anyone here familiar enough with one of those PS2 cheat methods to take this from idea to eternal minimap?

"Fixing" the PSG1 minimap would require two separate edits to the game code:
1) Changing the "Atlas" item to unlimited uses (Hard if there are no other items with unlimited uses)
2) Increasing the number of steps per Atlas use to 65535 (if there is enough space in the code to do so)
——I doubt any dungeon would require more than 65535 steps, though it may be annoying if the max limit was 255 steps.

Lightning Warrior Raidy? Whoa, that takes me back. I've never actually played them, but was part of the bishoujo gaming community when the first one was translated.

You can use Cheat Engine together with PCSX2 to find cheat codes, as the emulated PS2's memory range is at a fixed location. Then you monitor memory changes that take place when you use the Atlas item, every time you take a step, and when it runs out.

Found a inf step altas code item for Phantasy Star Generations 1 for PCSX2 , tested on Mahal cave . have not tested on other dungeons yet. Do inform me if it does not work.

Unless I did something wrong, it's not working for me. Haven't done any cheating on PCSX2 before so I uploaded my cheat my file to make sure that isn't the problem. Loaded the ISO, clicked enable cheats, reboot CDVD, started a new game, bought a map and it ran out in 100 steps. Tried having maps in the 7 and 8 item slot in cast the first item would be zero, same thing either way.

The game CRC for the pnach is wrong ,i had the same issues too . Use this file instead or when you load PCSX2 check the log for the game CRC else did you see cheats loaded in the game log when you start up PCSX2

So when you load PCSX2 , check the log for the game CRC cos there are two different versions of the file in PS cave hence there may be two different CRCs , try this first.


Else you can email me a screen shot of your game log when you load PCSX2 so i can see the CRC and rename the pnach for you.

Else did you put the pnach file is the ws cheats or cheats folder of PCSX2? It is in the C drive under documents, PCSX2 folder i was using PCSX2 12.1 and upgraded to PCSX2 14.0, the codes still work.

By right when you load the cheats the altas item will automatically appear in your slot 7 of your Alis character and when you use it in dungeons, it will never run out. I tried in 2 different dungeons, one on Palma and one in Motavia ,so even when you exit the dungeon the Altas item is still there hence infinite uses.

The log is telling me "not found cheats fie." It's in Program Files\PCSX2\cheats, both the cheat file I uploaded before and the one you uploaded. I'm not too sure what's going on with that. I'm using version version 2.1 of the English patch if that makes a difference.

You have to copy the earlier pnach file you uploaded or the the panch file that i uploaded to this location on your pc:
C:\Users\Administrator\Documents\PCSX2\cheats

It is NOT in this location: Program Files\PCSX2\cheats whichever drive which PCSX2 is on yr pc

Only when the pnach is placed there then will PCSX2 detect it and the cheats will be loaded then the infinite Atlas effect will work, you can buy antidotes to fill up items 2-6 then enter the medusa cave at Palma to test it out.

I copied there and it still didn't work. I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling PCSX2 and that finally got it to work. Don't know what went wrong there.
