I dont really agree

Phantasy Star 1, for its time was a great game. Compared to what was around back then, it had a far better combat system and graphics and sound wise it was better than most RPG's.

It does have it flaws. Yes its a bit too hard really. After you get the Luveno and are able to travel to Dezoris what are you suppost to do next? Your suppost to wander around and figure it out. But how many people have the patience for that? Three whole planets is a lot of roaming around. Palma is easy enough to explore, as is Dezoris. But Motavia is hard. There isnt many towns there and they are pretty far apart. You will wander around that planet for hours wondering if you will ever find anything at all.

Its also very easy to miss a key item and end up facing Madusa without even hearing about a mirror shield. You would think she is impossible to beat. If you didnt happen upon Damor you also would be without the crystal and Lassic would own you too. To actually find Dark Falz would be a complete fluke or an insane amount of time exploring a rather small dungeon. It wouldn't be fun at all. I would bet loads of players never even saw Dark Falz.

I actually like the fact that Dark Falz can beat you, even at level max. It adds to the final battle in my opinion. But others might hate it.

So PS1 is far from perfect.

But I still love it.

I honestly didnt like Generation 1 however. Its really just Phantasy Star 4 with ps1 characters. I feel it is a huge missed oportunity by SEGA to create a Final Fantasy killer. FF13 has been getting very harsh reviews and all the FF fan boys seem to hate the games too. 14 is a dull WOW clone so Square are ripe for the plucking. Universe isnt going to dethrone them.

Well, I haven't really weighed in on this yet.

Now, I never played or tried any of the Online games or the Universe....Just PS 1-4.

PS1 - Far better than any 8-bit game had any right being!! This one was just totally awesome!

PS2 - My favorite. OK, ok, I know it's grindy, but, I still like it. I think I like it because it involves you emotionally...I almost cried the first time I played when Nei died! And the ending was really cool, it spoke to the environmentalist in me (here were humans, who, having finally destroyed their own planet....going off to destory someone else's....and trying to take by force what they wanted...no matter who it belonged to)

PS3 - Arguably the worst game in the series, but I disagree. I can see why many say it...and, quite frankly the battle graphics did kinda suck. MY two major problems with the game were these:

1. Only two save slots. Therefore, you could not save every possible ending - unless, of course, you were playing on an emulator with Save States, then you could.
2. The battle mechanics were a bit tricky.
3. Techs - I did not care for the "favoring" of techs...and I totally HATED the fact that when you cast a spell, like Anti...it did not ALWAYS WORK. Say what you will about PS2's grindiness, at least when you cast spells THEY ALWAYS WORKED.

PS4 - I consider this one the worst, because it tried to be too much to too many people and thus fell short. It was too easy.
