What Countries would the worlds in PS3 be ?

Postby Doctor Hooves » Fri Apr 11, 2014 7:21 pm

OK,know the worlds in PS3 ? What country would they be, I certainly know none of them are The United States, but anyway

I would say Landen would be probably The United Kingdom.

I would say Aquatica would be France, maybe ?

Aridia probably a place like Saudi Arabia.

Elysium would be, um, not really sure, Russia ?

I would say Draconia would be Japan

Frigidia would be Canada maybe ?

Terminus ? Greenland perhaps?

Really interesting comparisons to be made here, really gets me thinking, but I unfortunately don't remember the regions in the game very well! I have to admit III is not my favorite in the series, but I need to replay it at some point. I only really remember the desert region, but yeah, I would think there would be cultural things about the kingdoms that would invite comparison to real world countries, too.

Hmmm, here's my own thoughts...I guess this is from an American perspective...

I would say Landen would be probably The United States.

I would say Aquatica would be The Carribbean.

I would say Aridia would be like Egypt.

I would say Elysium would be, like Germany.

I would say Draconia would be Japan (or perhaps Wales - thinking in terms of dragons here)

I would say Frigidia would be Siberia.

Terminus, I'm going with Hamas-controlled Gaza. (In either case, Terminus HAS to be an enemy of America, to my mind)

By the way, as an American....I found this comment
OK,know the worlds in PS3 ? What country would they be, I certainly know none of them are The United States, but anyway
just a little insulting. No...more than just a little insulting, to be truthful!

It's one thing to just not be included or mentioned...but to be SPECIFICALLY EXCLUDED....I am sorry, but that was a major insult and slap in the face to Americans, everywhere. I know, most Europeans would probably prefer America NOT BE a part of the world, but we still are. And I, as an American, am more than just a little miffed at this DELIBERATE EXCLUSION.

Truthfully, I had long thought of the worlds of PS3 in terms of American States.

Landen, to me, would be like Pennsylvania
Aquatica, to me, would be like Hawai'i (or possibly The Virgin Islands)
Aridia, to me, would be like Arizona
Elysium, to me, would be like, maybe Illinois
Draconia, to me, would be like Louisiana, perhaps (I'm thinking in terms of the local culture there)
Frigidia would be Minnesota, or maybe even Alaska
Terminus, no question...New York.

OK, OK...so I admit being an "Ugly American." I readily admit that when I encounter others online, I automatically assume they are from the United States, unless they specifically say otherwise. Or say something that makes me suspect it.

I see them all as European countries for some reason.

Not accusing, but I speculate a little "America-hate" going on here.

I can't blame a lot of the world for hating America...I do not support much of our foreign policy myself.

But it really hurts my feelings, as an American...to be soecifically excluded...and thought of as evil...or better yet, non-existent.

I know there are many who would prefer America not to be a part of the world. I find this to be very hutful and upsetting.
I can't control our government's policies...we don't have democracy here and never did.

We have "Representative Republic" here...and, unfortunately, these days...if you don't have money, you don't GET a voice. It wasn't supposed to be this way...but this is how the "great expiriment" has turned out. Politicians JOB NUMBER ONE is to get re-elected. To do this, they need lots of camapign cash to advertise their campaigns, and to distort and lie about the records of their opponents. That costs lots of money.

Special interests, who have lots of money...provide much of this money to the cabndidates. and while there is SUPPOSED to be no "quid pro quo" in our government...you don't REALLY think that these campaign conytributors really expect nothing in return for their investment? That they give this cash out of some altruistic sense of civic duty? If so, I got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you!

No, the cash folks just give their cash to people they know, or believe...will already vote the way they would wish...and thus it isn't EXACTLY a quid pro quo situation...generally, the wealthy get what they want and the rest of Americans have no voice. Our elections are a joke, our government sucks, and it is not anywhere close to real representation anymore. All we get to do is work our asses off, pay taxes till it hurts, and shut up and enjoy being spied on! You reading this, NSA?

I don't understand nationalism to the point that it hurts your feelings when others talk bad about it.

I don't hate America at all.

I have several friends who are from there and two aunts and a cousin who live in Virginia.

Butttt I am Australian, so I tend to think Australia is the whole world, just as you all do your own countries. I would honestly think about your countries about the same amount as you would think about Australia, which is when it is relevant.

As to why I think the Alissa 3 is like Europe, its simple. Every country is interconnected and quite different, like Europe is.

There's a difference between disliking a country and disliking you as a citizen of said country.

Maybe. But, still...most citizens of a country would be offended and take it personally...if their country was getting hated on.

Let's face it, the French people probably din't much appreciate the anti-France thing going on here in america a few years back. I didn't participate in it, either...in fact, I used to DELIBERATELY order French Fries when the menu read "Freedom Fries" It was beyond stupid.

I know...American foreign policy leaves a lot of people a lot of reasons to hate on America...but, can't you just hate the policy and not the country?

I'll let you in on a little secret, a LOT of Americans do not like American foreign policy, either...and I am one of them. for that matter, I don't care much for American DOMESTIC policy, post 9/11, either.

Still, though...it doesn't feel good, when you're an american, as I am...and you see America getting hated on everywhere...usually because of foreign policy that I, myself, do not agree with, either.

Actually, I kinda like Australia. Honestly, you don't see a lot of America-hatred coming from Australia...mostly it is coming from Europe.

Now there IS something to be said for that reasoning.

But if you know much about America...we are 50 interconnected states...and all of them are pretty different, culturally, from each other...at least, on a regional level, anyway. Yeah, you probably would not notice much difference between, say, Delaware and Pennsylvania...but between those two and, say, Texas...there's a WORLD of difference. Having lived in both, I can say that with some authority.

In my lifetime, I have lived in seven American states

Illinois
Kentucky
Texas
Florida
Pennsylvania
New Jersey
North Carolina

I would say that, really, the United states...on a cultural level, splits geographically into seven distinct regions

New England (Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and all of New York State, except New York City)

Mid-Atlantic Urban (NYC, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, District of Columbia and Northern Virginia)

South Atlantic (Southern Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana)

Midwest/Rust Belt (West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri)

Southwestern (Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona)

Plains/Rockies (Kansas, Nebraska, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota)

West (California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington State)

This leaves Alaska and Hawaii off, because, as they are disconnected from the rest, they each are sort of their own culture. Not to mention any of the various territories of the United States. The seven regions basically encompass the Lower 48 as we call it here.

This is why I broke down the Alissa 3 in terms of States of the United States.

Not at all. There's a reason we roll our eyes at American nationalism sentiments.

It was when Jacques Chirac refused to send his army to Irak, not believing there were any mass destruction weapon, IIRC ?

To be true, most French, even those who didn't like Chirac (and there were plenty of them) knew he was right, and thought American opinion was manipulated. So they didn't take too seriously this anti-France thing.

And to be honest, most French hate Americans more than the contrary (which I found utterly stupid).

The funny thing about French Fries is that, in France, they are considered as the symbol of... Belgium (the best thing Belgium produced, with their comics authors) (and Jacques Brel).
