Most mysterious character?

Who's the most mysterious character in the original games?

I'll give one candidate from each of them, but you might think it's someone different altogether.

PSI: Noah
Where did he get his special powers, and why does he have them while very few others do? What's his relationship with the Governor of Motavia? Who's Tarzimal, and where did HE get his special powers? Why is he unwilling to help Alis unless the Governor instructs him to do so via a letter? What happens to him after the events of PSI? Is he Lutz? Is he not Lutz? If he's not Lutz, is Lutz connected to him somehow?

PSII: Kain
I could go with Nei, but she's not really mysterious because we know what her story is. Why does Kain decide to help you, considering robots are not yet a threat at that point in the game? Is it his infatuation with Nei, mentioned only in the Japanese version? Once Nei first doesn't reciprocate those feelings, and then perishes in the battle with Neifirst, what makes him decide to continue helping you? He doesn't seem like the type to have a strong sense of justice and want to fight evil for the sake of Algol's future, but he instead seems like a fun-loving individual who isn't all that bright.

PSIII: Ryan
What's HIS deal? Why does he want to side with an Orakian to fight Lune, a Layan hero, when he is himself a Layan? Where did he come from? What's his hometown? Other events happen no matter who Rhys marries (and who his children marry), such as the destruction of Satera, the destruction of Shusoran and Cille, and Lune having a daughter named Kara. But there is no mention of Ryan anywhere other than in Nial's quest, and even then, very little is said about him. He's very physically strong, though, especially for a Layan.

PSIV: Alys
Where did she meet Rune? Where did she come from? Rune asks Chaz "do you think Alys did what she did for money?"...but it never directly answers WHY she did what she did. It does, however, show a vision of her when Chaz goes to retrieve the Elsydeon, as though she was one of the previous protectors. Did she recruit and act as an older sister to Chaz simply to mold him into being someone who could save Algol, as Rune was doing, or did she lack that foresight? If that isn't the reason, why DID she help Chaz? And if that IS the reason, why didn't she ever say something to Chaz?

Regarding Ryan...

I've seen various pieces of fan fiction saying that a) Ryan is a dragon knight, b) Ryan rescues Thea if Rhys marries Lena, and c) Thea marries Lune and gives birth to Kara if Rhys marries Lena. While this is very plausible (and I tend to believe it), it's by no means anything more than fan fiction.

I'll answer, but also add my own ones

1. Noah - Yes he is Lutz. There is no such person as Noah..its a typo. (prepares for a fight)

As for his relation to the governor. I would guess he was plotting against Lassic and was keeping Lutz as his ace in the cave. A cave kinda counts as a hole....

Myne for PS1: Damor the southsayer. He is just kinda there. Is he an Esper or what?

2. Kain: I didn't understand a word he said, and in Rolf's place I would have closed the door on him.

Myne for PS2: Tyler. He just shows up, and is gone again just as quickly. Who the heck was he, and how did he even have a ship when space travel was banned by Mother Brain?

3. I could see why he wouldn't want to have another war start.

Myne: for PS3: Laya. Who ever heard of sisters having the same name? I think she was originally suppost to be "The Laya" but they balked and changed her to her sister.

4. Alys was a hunter so did do what she did for money. She was also nice too. I would say Chaz was "the son she never had" Alys wasn't young after all.

Myne for PS4: wasn't SEED essentually a weak Mother Brain? And why destroy Daughter?

All the characters in PS2 but Rolf and Nei seem mysterious.

Rudo - The only mysterious thing about him is how did his wife and child die ? I assume the wife died after she gave birth, and the child died from an illness ?

Amy - Again only 1 thing cryptical about her, why would she risk fighting if she is only a healer ?

Hugh - We have a few things mystical about him here, where does he live ? why does he start of with no techniques ? What good-damaging things does he learn ? Does he live in any of the towns we visit ?

Anna - Not much strange things about her, why does she have super high strength using only a slasher, in PS4 they're not that super, and what does that technique Fanbi do ? It only does about 10 damage to an enemy.

Kain - Why does he join when robot's are not a big threat at that point in the game you get him, only in the Japanese version does it say he has a crush on Nei.
Why does he talk funny ? He just seems like he wants to hang out with Rolf.Does he even get paid for wrecking things ?

Shir - Now you're talking! Why does she want to stop all evil in Algo if she is a thief ? Why has she never been caught when she has to learn her spells like Hinas and Ryuka ? Why does it take a billion years for her to learn NaGra ? Is she classifed as a physical fighter or a caster ? Is she rich ? It says he grew up to a rich family, then why would she want to steal ? One more thing, why does she only deal the Laconian-Dagger do only 2 damage ? Is it made from hollow glass ?

Weren't they killed by bio-monsters? I think it was mentioned in PSII, and Rudo's text adventure even 'shows' it.
what does that technique Fanbi do ? It only does about 10 damage to an enemy.

It drains enemy HP. Anna gets restored as much as she damages the enemy with it.
It says he grew up to a rich family, then why would she want to steal ?

As said in PSII, she likes the thrill of stealing.
One more thing, why does she only deal the Laconian-Dagger do only 2 damage ?

The developers botched the attack stat of the weapon.
Get Xenoblade Chronicles!

Oh, yeah, I forgot the text adventures.

Also, they really should have checked over the thingy with the Laco Dagger, it doubt they did it on purpose though.

Well, Tyler WAS a space pirate...and he says life under the Mother Brain was not to his liking.
So he would be the type to ignore any ban on space travel, and just do it...especially since he seems to really dislike Mother Brain.

Why he happens to be in the right place at the right time....I would theorize that, as a Space Pirate...he would already know...as did just about everyone...that the party has had their names announced as criminals who made Mother Brain go crazy. This is the sort of thing that would get the interest of someone who dislikes Mother Brain.
So...when news got out the party was captured and sent to Gaila, he might have gone there with the intent of breaking them out. Nobody knew the Gaila satellite would dive into Palm. Apparently all a part of the plan of those on Spaceship Noah (interesting that Noah is also the name of the Esper in PS1)

It would seem Lutz and Noah were the same person, because it even states "My master has slept for 1,000 years" - and, as you all know, there is 1,000 years between each episode of Phantasy Star.

Anyway, Tyler is there to put the idea in your head to go to Dezo...since he is the first to mention Dezo to you...and he wants to steer you towards Lutz...believing he can help you destroy Mother Brain, who he hates. So then, the last exchange between the Agent and the Governor, gets the party the use of Mota's last spaceship...to go to Dezo.

Why was this spaceship not there all along...you would just be unable to use it until the approproate time? Maybe because the Governor kept this secret from everyone....until there was a need for it.

It might have made more sense...if Tyler was to join your party - and then you had use of HIS ship.

Actualy, this could work and make a lot of sense on a couple of levels.

Kain, apparently joins up with you because he is infatuated with Nei. But then Nei dies. and Kain does not seem to be much for justice and saving Algo, really...so, if Kain were to LEAVE your party after Nei's death...and then, you later got joined by Tyler...who would take Kain's place...this would also give you the use of Tyler's ship. And it would make sense - since Tyler so hates Mother Brain...why would he not want to join the fight to destroy Mother Brain?

So, Tyler is a bit of a riddle...and a very untapped potential - a character could be made of Tyler. And he'd make more sense in the final party than Kain does.

I have tossed the concept of Tyler around for a long time, as you might have noticed.

Those are really good points and I agree that Tyler should have become a party member. There is a town named after him in PS4 afterall, so he did something special. Why not have helped out Rolf.

I am cross-posting my response to this in a new thread...as it is rather lengthy, and outlines a really neat scenario...
