Phantasy Star Character Rankings

I am going to do a tournament to determine the best/most useful character from the original four Phantasy Star games. Since there are 41 characters, there must be two play-in rounds to get it down to 32. This is going to be play-in round #1. Voting will last through January 31.

I voted for Seth because, although he's physically not that strong and you have him for a very short time, his Corrosion skill is very useful in the Soldiers' Temple. Lena just sucks. She has no techniques and is weak physically as well. Sari must have had a very strong father, because she certainly didn't get it from her mother.

NOTE: I tried looking at the bracket on my phone, and it only showed the left side of it. So you will probably need to look at it on a laptop/desktop. Not sure about a tablet.

Both characters are in your party for only a short while, but only Seth can hold his own. Lena starts at level 1, and by the time you have levelled her up to be useful, it's the end of the first generation.

Note that stat-wise, she's about as strong as Rhys, but not being able to use a sword is a serious handicap.

If she could use the Laser Needler, she'd be a bit better. But, alas, she cannot.

She can't use the Royal Needler either (which is available in Hazatak for 20,000M), but even if she could, I doubt many players would bother saving up for one for her.

Every character in PSIII starts at level 1. However, all level 1's are NOT created equal. Sari's level 1 comes with something like 250 HP and Herculean strength, while her mother's level one comes with, I think, 30 HP, very little strength and a lot of fragility. She does, however, level up fairly quickly...but as you said, you only have her for the trip to and from the Weather Control tower, and the Cille dungeon and castle. That's it.

Oh, another thing that works in Seth's favor...he comes equipped with a CYBER-SUIT, which is the only one of its kind in the entire game, and is a useful armor for Rika.

That's right. Lena's level 1 really is level 1, though. Lyle's level 1 is equal to level 16. Sari's level 1 is equal to level 32 or 33.
