phantasy star- new member,help!

Greetings fellow phantasy star fans!
When i was young I played ps4, it was the very first game of the series i ever played until about 20 years later.
At the end of ps4 it all made perfect sense...1000 years ago darkness came and they won..darkforce...great light..profound darkness..elysdeon being the sword that kills darkforce every game..The original lutz..rune being 5th generation.

With just playing ps4 it left me to just imagine the amazingness of the build up to parma being destoryed...weakening the rift..but this time not darkforce, but the profound darkness. I could just imagine playing lutz in ps1 and than playing the next generation lutz in the next game, i looked forward to knowing that elsydeon had been used before, amazing storyline. Honestly i am and was in love with ps4, it all made perfect sense.
Before i start complaining a lot of the storyline does make sense!

Now here is my problem. i need clarification on the storyline! i started playing ps1 for the first time last week and heaven forbid i went ahead and looked at the storyline ahead of me. After about an hour in i thought to myself i wish i never even did! i wish that i just played ps4 and that i never even looked! It bothers me so much that the game i fell in love with seems to not be as true as i made it out to be. Elsydeon is never mentioned until ps4. random weopons were used during the series..i would love to think that the swords they used in the other games was the elsydeon. I'm just gonna assume it was made after ps2 when lutz builds the esper mansion because he knows that the rift was weakened due to parma being destroyed.

It just bugs me because the series is so good and the storyline...with just a bit more thought could of been even more epic.

Finally this comes to my last question! and by far the most important.I'm just gonna spit out of bunch of my assumptions here that i have stumbled upon.

From what i have read people have there own opinion on the timeline of the series. even this site has a timeline that i dont fully understand. On wiki it says that ps3 has no place in the series in terms of storyline, that it is essentially a sideplot. Other people say that ps3 happends after ps4. Which is it? is it a sideplot that they rushed out of factory and than the real team finished the series off from ps2 right into ps4? the opening of ps4 states that ps2 happends 1000 years prior. Where does ps3 fit into all this? does darkforce never die when parma explodes and he boards the Alisa III, and darkforce is now in 2 spots? It is all 1 giant tangle i cant seem to sort out. If they vanquished the profound darkness in ps4 than how does it comeback in ps3 ( providing that ps3 occurs after ps4). Alot of sources say that ps3 and ps4 happen at the same time. im under the assumption that in ps4 when your in the old factory and you get a cutscene about Alisa III and how ships escaped and how ships went further than algo solar system..is that acknowledgement that ps3 is in the storyline? please somebody untangle this knot!

Phantasy Star III started out as a sequel to Phantasy Star II that wanted to try something different. The producer, Saiki, had big plans for it, which he would talk about in interviews. Unfortunately, Sega gave them little time to complete the project, and the resulting game was rushed as a result.

Sega realised its mistake and got as many people from the original team together as it could, giving them a lot of freedom to create a sequel. The team decided to create a different sequel to Phantasy Star II. As Phantasy Star IV shows, though, they do acknowledge Phantasy Star III.

As for Phantasy Star III's position in the timeline... The Japanese release of the game states that it has been 2000 years since they escaped from Palma. The English release, however, says it has been 1000 years.

The Dark Force you encounter in Phantasy Star II came from Earth. The Dark Force you encounter in Phantasy Star III is from Algol's millennial cycle, which boarded the world ships.

By chance, can i take advantage of your knowledge and ask you the storyline behind darkforce coming from earth in terms of ps2, i thought that it came from algo's 1000 year prophecy.
So the darkforce you fight in ps2 is from earth, as you said. than the darkforce that boards those ships right as ps2 is ending that is a different darkforce?

Personally I think the Dark Force that came from Earth manifested itself there because of the negative emotions of the Earthmen. However, the most popular theory is that Dark Force ended up on Earth thanks to the Alisa III in Aron's ending.

That means that depending on what you think, the Dark Force that boards the Alisa III may or may not be the same one.

Oh, Phantasy Star. Starting with the fourth in the series is terribly misleading if you've never even glanced at the others. PSIV is probably the most polished and, as some would say, neatly wraps up the series. So going back and play the others would surely be sobering if you expected some grandly expanded plot, due to the simplicity you'll encounter in PSI-III.

Elsydeon could be a number of things... It could be Alis's sword from PSI, it could be the Nei Sword from PSII. Heck, you could go as far as to say that Alis's Laconian Sword was enchanted by Esper magic and turned into the Nei Sword. After Rolf had wielded it for their final battle in PSII, who's to say that it didn't return to Lutz's possession like a few of their other items (*cough*Aeroprism*cough*) and was named Elsydeon? Chaz saw those visions of Alis and Rolf's battles, probably because that sword had captured those heroic moments.

But, who knows. All I said was pretty much speculation on my own part. ^-^

But Dark Force was stated to be a manifestation of the Profound Darkness's hatred, wasn't it? When the seal on the Profound Darkness would weaken, that's when Dark Force would appear to destroy Algol. I don't see how it would appear otherwise based on this...

I think that Aron's ending, unfortunately, is the source of Dark Force on Earth. It was poor planning on Sega's part (or, maybe grand if you dig that twist). Unless, like PSIV, there happened to be multiple instances of DF cropping up, and one of them boarded the Alisa III.
