Phantasy Star III Official Char Book

First of all, I've been absent for a few weeks... it's just that some weird IP problem keeps me from accessing the PS Cave. I thought the site was offline for about two months, then I noticed I could access it using a proxy. Pretty weird.

Well, thanks to a good friend I've managed to buy the official charbook for PSIII, by Toyo Ozaki. And since I'm that crazy guy that tears rare books apart to scan them... enjoy it!

It's not just by Toyo Ozaki. It's by both her and Masaki Segawa, who is her husband. Masaki Segawa is the guy from Basilisk: The Kouga Ninja Scrolls and a few other titles.

Do you have any other info on her? Such as other works and stuff like that?

This book is the best PS related stuff, IMO. Maybe my opinion is too biased because I'm too much in love with Maia (have always been), but the pieces of art there are superb.

In fact I knew there was a co-author, but I didn't know he was Ozaki's husband. The site from where you bought the book sells his works.

Sadly, I have no info on Ozaki other than she's actually nice and answered a bit of my questions WAY back, when I bought the book from her.

I mainly asked her if she could send the book here, but when I actually got it, I asked her about how her illustration work was in PS3. She did the primary character design and illustrations for the manual, like the warnings about not sitting on the cartridge, not getting it wet, etc. That's why the character design was given to her in the... credits... However, the illustrations of the characters in the game were Segawa's only, if my memory doesn't fail me. If you look at Rhys' portrait and the other characters, and compare them to the illustrations, you can see it's Segawa's style.

I'd advise you to get the book back together once you have scanned it completely. The book was made and released as a doujin work. The design and fees to print it came out of them.

That's the reason why I didn't rip it and scan it when you asked me a long time ago. For me, it's like a national treasure.

I really hope someone saved all of those pictures before her site went dead, because they were gorgeous... And because the PS Webring link doesn't have many of the images.

I remember that algol-star-system.net claimed to have mirrored all the images that were on Toyo Ozaki's site. Though the site is now defunct as well, I've downloaded them all a long time ago and I still have the images. I believe there may be other sites who did the same.
