Hello Everyone.

I have decided to open an Irc chat room for Phantasy Star.
It will be shared with Fringes of Algo and The PS Cave.

To use the chat, you'll need to download an IRC client. Below are recommended clients for different operating systems.

IRC Information

First, connect to the network by entering:

/server irc.synirc.net

into your command line in whatever client you're using.

To connect to the channel, type:

/join #PSchat

I already tried to create PS related channel, but it didn't got any wind under it's wings.

What network is this? Synirc? I guess it's its own, not any part of other larger network?

I remember trying to call people to irc.badnik.net since it is much game ralated network and more Sega related. It already holds channels for Sonic retro and Sega retro.

ChatZilla is not Firefox only. It works on most, if not all, Mozilla-based applications. SeaMonkey, for example.

Not trying to be a dick, but I don't see the point. IRC is obsolete nowadays. We have Facebook and all that jazz.

I hang on the freenode servers, personally. I've never bothered to find out if my client supports several servers at once, but I guess now I have an incentive...

That really depends on who you ask. There's tons of people who still use this kind of service.

Still, you have a point. I've ran an IRC channel years back for Phantasy Star Cave when the board was frequented by more people, but it wasn't that popular. It didn't help that it eventually became a hotbed for drama.

10186 lines of chatting on #retro on two days. Drop about 2% from that to exclude parts, joins etc...
Although I use same client for facebook chat too. I guess facebook's xmpp protocol does not include channels... :(

Personally, I dislike Facebook's chat feature. I like more a room full with people and the chaos that can ensue. If there was to be an actual PSC chat room, I'd visit it. I'd also offer my services as a moderator in case an undesirable troll came around.

You're basically talking about a service just like IRC.
I've heard that facebook _might_ add the channel feature to it's XMPP protocol... That would be nice.
If any of you have ever used Jabber (Google Talk is Jabber and so is that facebook chat, but they have their own version :E), it's nowdays this XMPP... There you can create some kind of chat rooms, but I don't know if those are like in IRC.
Has anyone any experience on this..?

Oh.. And I guess I could join on that IRC channel until we have something more "proper"...

HTD: Does that synirc have channel Re-Op kind of feature... We are opless currently....
