PS4 Remake may be becoming a reality!!!

Postby xrick » Fri Jun 25, 2010 12:26 pm

Just right now I went to a forum (their posts are very recent) and saw this: CoolROM.com Forums - View Single Post - *Phantasy Star Generation 1*.

Guys, I'm not sure if this is for real or what, but if it is, BRING IT ON!!! :D

My scepticism gets the better of me for now... It'd be cool if it was true...

It'd look more credible if whoever posted that included a reference of some kind. All we have is his/her word.

Yeah, unfortunately it's true...

But I'm also a bit lazy to be now making an account there just to go ask that entity if there's any reference to his/her statement, that if that entity were still around there as of today...

If anyone else wants to clarify it, give it a try...
If not, maybe I may do it in a couple of days...

I said I'd wait a few days, but since in GagaGames, Orakio and others have little faith on that story (and with some reason, for Heavens' Sake), I created an account on that forum only to go asking those guys if their story is for real and if they have any conclusive evidence on what they're saying around the net...

His source is friends from overseas? Doesn't sound too credible unless these friends are people who work in one of these companies.

Regardless, this sounds iffy as Phantasy Star: Generation 2 was handled by Sega, not 3D Ages. Whatever reason Sega had to abandon 3D Ages and stop producing remakes after PSG2 probably didn't disappear.

In much of it, agreed...

But, as I've been discussing on GagaGames, I don't wanna lose hope now that I've found a possible light at the end of the tunnel, a possible miracle.

Namco-Bandai purchasing 3D AGES. That's a good one.

I think I said this before, but 3D AGES hasn't existed since 2005 or so (starting with Volume 16, the titles became "Sega" only, though they did outsource development to other studios on a number of the titles). Now, Namco-Bandai bought controlling interest in D3 Publisher, which held a minority share in the 3D AGES joint venture, but that has no bearing on a PSIV remake in the here and now. Sega has nothing to do with that deal, so there's no Phantasy Star involved in any way, shape or form.

So, while I hate to be a dick...that post is worthless. It's based on either misunderstanding of the facts regarding the acquisition mentioned or blatant lies, and it's extremely open-ended ("We'll see the remake someday...on some system...") not to mention if the game was being produced it would be news somewhere online. A Japanese fan site at the very least. But nada since Sega Ages 2500 Vol. 32, in terms of Phantasy Star at least.

Corey's being uncharacteristically nice for his own good. He loves being a dick when it's necessary in a discussion.

This PSIV news reeks of bs to me. The Phantasy Star series hasn't been nearly as popular as Final Fantasy. Sega's not going to concentrate on bringing back classics if there isn't a ounce of profit in them.

Something else to point out that I've been noticing since the beginning is that everyone's talking about Phantasy Star: Generation 4, while the PSIV remake was announced as Phantasy Star: Generation 3. That's because, as we all know, PSIII was never planned for a remake.

Any PS game with Reiko Kodama involved = canon

PSIII hasn't had Reiko involved. That simple.

Doesn't matter if Kodama was not involved in III. Placing the crashed worldship is like the pope saying Jesus existed and is the son of god.

Of course, Kodama hasn't had a lousy moral life like the pope... Maybe I shouldn't use that way to explain. Poor Mrs. Kodama.

PSIV was meant to be Generation 3, not including 3. The proof's in the pudding. PSIV is the true PSIII as far as I'm concerned.

Fact remains that Kodama established the PS mythology, so anything she is involved in PS-wise goes. PSIII was a rushed job anyway.
