That's a completely different matter.
Ripping and making a bootable PS1 game on the PSP is possible and commonplace among those that use custom firmwares. However, pulling that thing off on the PSP is, as far as I know, impossible. The PSP comes with a PS1 emulator included in its firmware. However, a PS2 is a much more complicated machine than the PS1 in terms of architecture and code.
Trying to emulate a PS2 on a PSP wouldn't be so easy, if not impossible, I believe. That goes without mentioning that the PSP is not much bigger in terms of processing power than the PS2. 333 MHz as a maximum, although normally 222 MHz are the speeds at which the PSP's processor runs, as opposed to 299 MHz at which the PS2's runs.
With games being ported over from the PS2 to the PSP, I'd say they are more like readapted versions, but that's more of a speculation on my part about technical aspects. Still, the PSP has less power than the PS2.
A reworking of the games to be released in a UMD or digital distribution would be easier because of the measly 2D used in them, I think. However, forget about ripping and running PS2 games on a PSP. It just won't happen. If it was possible, I'd say it would have happened a very long time ago with the homebrew scene the way it is.
As I've said before, it's ridiculous that hackers make better use of the capabilities of the PSP than Sony. The PSP is an excellent system and Sony basically throw all the excellent possibilities the PSP offers to the trash. As a Custom Firmware user, I can attest to that.
