Has the Phantasy Star newsgroup ever been active with PS fans? Or has it been taken over with SPAM?

I believe he is referring to the alt.phantasy-star (if I remember right).
That one has always been spammed and I never really did spend much time on there. However, back in the days (and I mean, back) I use to sometimes read some topics there but I cant remember much activity.
