Phantasy Star Pages Discussion Board

Postby Sange Mahlay » Fri Oct 17, 2008 6:31 pm

Hey everyone,

I'm new to PSCave. I used to post over at the Phantasy Star Pages a few years back (anyone remember me?). I was curious if anyone knew what happened. Did he decide to just shut it down? Thanks!

It went down when Maxx switched hosts, and there were problems getting it up on the new server. People were told to check back every once in a while, but he never gave any update on it, and eventually removed the "Discussion Board" entry from the site's navigation. I assume he gave up on the board.

Now that you mention it, your name does ring a bell. Welcome! :)

It's times like this I wish I joined sooner. I wonder if I would've been equal on par with Ben's posts? I wonder if I would've gotten even half of the inside jokes that go on? In any case, I hope this community continues to grow, and the site itself along with it.

The number of oldies here is growing, that's neat! =) Welcome Mahlay! Now if only we could get Joel and Mike here - that would get the discussions rolling!

Is it just me, or are a few of the PSPBB members are coming out of the wood work?

I do miss the PSDB. We don't have the same critical mass, and quite frankly, there isn't much PS-related to talk about these days.

This may be the first ever recorded incident of someone wishing Mike were around. Allow me to second the sentiment.

I've been e-mailing Joel the past couple of months since he renewed his website. He isn't coming back, as he lost interest. He has asked me to give his regards to the remaining oldies, though.

I am indifferent about Mike, but sometimes a good flam war is interesting. He is one of the more notable (Good or bad, depending on your views) phans that most of us has heard about.

The PSDB had a pretty healthy group of regular posters. There'd be those huge arguments over Noah and Lutz, over Canon, The Earthmen etc. It was pretty good reading.

I wonder if people get heated up over that sort of thing with PSU?

Oh I miss the old days, and the oldies! I can't believe its been over ten years since I discovered the PS-community! [1]

As for Mike, though I seldom shared his views, and frankly often thought him obnoxious, I would rather have Mike than not have Mike any day. As Sange said, the discussions were usually (reasonably) good spirited, and made for enjoyable reading. There were others I could stand less than Mike, but thankfully I've forgotten their names!

I remarkably "survived" at the PSDB from 2000 to its end, even being consistently at the "jacobin" (and sometimes, "bolshevik") side :^P
