Saya the Sega fan ((Ps easter eggs!))

Postby Heroic_Chaz » Wed Oct 01, 2008 4:00 pm

This is a forum to post up all the easter eggs and references you can find int he various Phantasy Star games, as well as other humorous things! To start us off, I've confirmed that Saya, Hahn's fiancee, is a Sega fan. Check the bookshelfs in her hourse to see references to Sonic "Run, Hedgehog, Run!", Ecco the Dolphin "A day with Ecco", and more! Some funny thigns are, try checking in her dresser, and Chaz makes a perverted remark. Also, check out some stuff in Chaz and Alis' house for some laughs anyone find anything else besides these?
I wonder what people will see in the final days?

Oh yeah, there's tons of that stuff in PS4. I'm trying to document most of it over at Something Awful. I'm hoping I may stumble across some stuff I've never seen now that I've made it to Dezolis on my playthrough.

I've been following that thread of yours on Something Awful, and I don't think anyone's mentioned that some of Rune's and Kyra's skills are actually spells from PS1. Well, not that you'd notice since the PS1 translators changed the names.

Well, anyway, Flaeli, Hewn and Tandle are the Fire, Wind and Thunder spells from PS1. And Kyra's Telele, Warla and Bindwa are Terror, Wall and Rope. Her Medice skill is probably also either the Heal or Cure spell, since all her other skills are from PS1, but I'm not cuite sure about that one.

Actually, the PSI attack spells were properly translated. It's PSIV that got them wrong. Look at the romaji for the spells.

The rest of the spells have better translations in the PSI retranslation by SMS Power.

You know, it's funny, but I actually did notice that a while back. Unfortunately I completely forgot until you mentioned it, and you're right, it's never come up. That's odd. I should probably fix that next time, unless Thuryl was planning something with it.

I should also be playing it, but...eh, I'll do it tomorrow.

EDIT: Oh, wait, I never noticed that about Kyra's stuff! Interesting...

Romaji for the attack spells? Fureeri, Hyuun and Tandore, if my memory serves me.

If you want to make english words out of them, then Fureeri should probably be Flare, rather than Fire, though it woudn't have fit into the four-character limit for the spell names, so it couldn't really be helped.

Hyuun you can't really make an english word out of, and again, no english wind sounds I can think of would fit the inside the limit, so I suppose Wind's fine. I wonder why the SMS Power retranslation kept those two, though, since it removed the character limit.
