the most recent sonic game I played was Shadow the Hedgehog. it wasn't too bad with its branching stories, but it could've been better... in other news, I'm depressed right now because my Gaia Online account has been blocked...

Holy crap, it worked.

In any case, I just completed Sonic Adventure 2 battle's Green HIll zone, the unlockable you get after getting an A and every emblem. It wasn't easy, though.

in case anybody is interested. sonic team junior is almost done with their sonic robo blast 2 game. They have a 3 level demo you can download. The game is really good and thats the way sonic should've been.

This is what they need to do to save the franchise:

Make a PIMPED OUT 2d sidescroller. MAKE SONIC 4!!! Totally 2d handrawn stylized graphics and effects, like viewtiful joe except even better. And cut the character cast down to the original holy trinity, Sonic Tails and Knuckles, for the love of God no one except 12 year olds even care about all those other characters!

This is the only thing SEGA can do to rescue Sonic and prove his superiority to Mario once again.

I think Gamma is the only redeemable one of the bunch, just because he has a meaningful backstory, has unique control and gameplay aspects and he isn't a palette swap. I think the series would do itself a big favor to get back to its roots including, at least for a single game, cutting its roster back down.

Anything after Sonic & Knuckles was garbage. Sonic Adventure has to be the most overrated title I've had the misfortune of playing on the underrated Dreamcast.

I haven't played fuck all after that and I don't intend to.

I don't necessarily think it has to go back to 2D. It has been shown that Sonic Team's ability to make the game fast paced has gotten quite good. The problem is that they keep trying to incorporate silly combat into the games. Combat is what usually turns out to be the weak point.

So since they love combat so much...they should add areas within the stages that have a slowed down, acrobatic, context sensitive form of fighting. Kind of like God of War but instead Sonic style. Mesh this in with the running so that it is enjoyable and keeps the flow going.
