I'm Suprised...

Everyone is so stoked on the Diablo 3 coverage from WWI in Paris yesterday. I'm suprised noone has said anything here. =)

I've been waiting for a new Diablo title, but people just freaked a wee bit too much about this coverage. Diablo is a great series, don't get me wrong. I'll be one of the first to preorder a copy, I'm sure. However; I'm not freaking about it.

I think it's funny. People are saying that this will be a "WoW killer." That "I new that Blizzard was the only ones that could release a WoW killer." There is a major difference in both games. World of Warcraft is a MMORPG, whereas Diablo is an action/RPG with online play. The only thing that will come close to killing WoW is another MMORPG.

there's only one game that could be a potential wow killer at this point and thats warhammer online. As for diablo 3 I am happy they FINALLY announced it but I knew it was going to happen eventually so I am not as excited about it as I was with the SC2 announcement last year.

I am extremely excited for this game. The Diablo series is the only one I have enjoyed fully from Blizzard. I knew that WoW would kill me dreams of a Diablo MMO so that is unfortunate. However, the areas revealed remind me a lot of Dungeon Siege except more refined for the present. However...Chris Garriott announced in mid-july that he is working on Dungeon Siege 3. It will be interesting to see how these too battle for hype before release time (although I can admit that Blizzard seems to have an edge on the hype no matter what they announce).

If gaming companies were Gods, Blizzard would be zeus. There's just no competing against their titles.

Warcraft

Starcraft

Diablo

The unholy trinity united under the flag that reads Blizzard.

These three games are largely responsible for making their respective genres what they are today. Without them, almost all of the games of the same genre we all know and love would not exist. Never doubt the power that the name "Blizzard" carries.

Diablo III will continue the long tradition of it's predicessors. Starcraft II will be no less heartstopping.

I think it may have been the online functionality that gave them godly powers.

Perhaps... but the single player campaigns were phenominal, without a doubt. Cut the internet and play thru them like that. You still have a game that is above and beyond it's competitors.
