Okay, I know this might be in the wrong board but Im interested in what final fantasy games PS fans play (if any of course) ;)

My personal favorite is FF X even though I found FF VII epic.

My favorites are 4, 7, 9, and 10. I love 8, despite being mostly shit. The rest are kinda just there, and as epic as 6 was, it just was never able to grab me WHILE I was playing. 6 is absolutely a blast to talk about, hear about, discuss, theorize, or examine, but a chore to play for some reason.

10-2 is an insult, and 12 is a perfect example of why Square needs to shape up and stop making its development teams leave. The game started off wonderfully and then spiralled down, due to a lack of director and most of the original staff, into a pit of tedium and a total lack of plot or character. "Oh, but it doesn't have any romance!" A), what the hell is wrong with romance, and B), it forgets to have ANY character interaction.

Balthier was pretty damn awesome, though. He had all the plot and character.

Great, I'm rambling about FF. Now I'll never stop.

7 and 9 were the last good FF in my opinions and it really bothers me how every publication besides the defunct gamefan mag kisses square enix ass everytime a FF game (not a off shot FF game like tactics) is released.

I loved Final Fantasy V. The story was simple and convinced of itself. Gameplay-wise I loved the job system.

I like Final Fantasy VI a lot, until the World of Ruin. The loss of direction and plot development put me off. The Magicite system was cool.

Aside from those two I've played FFIV, which I thought was average and uninteresting, and a bit of FFI, which I thought was mediocre.

well of course if you are going to play them backwards you have to drop your expectations. dabble in 4 and 1 a bit and of course its not going to be like 5 or 6. My personal opinion, I liked 2 alot. I think its level system was pretty awesome.

It's kind of hard for me to judge the Final Fantasy series when I've only played FF2/4 and FF3/6 (for some strange reason, FF2 and 3 are 4 and 6 in the Japanese version.) The stories for those two are okay but the grapics and music aren't so good. The series is about average in rating for me.

Well, duh. How does that change anything? I'm not the typical casual gamer that grew up with a PSX.

The first Final Fantasy is far too primitive and uninteresting. No matter when it came out. Especially when compared with Phantasy Star, which came out very shortly after this game.

Final Fantasy IV isn't that bad of a game, but again, I found the story to be weak and uninspired. Not the presentation of it, but the story itself, so it's not technology-related.

I've only really played 7, 8, and 10, so my thoughts aren't too broad, but I liked 8 quite a lot, I personally liked the presentation of things. The draw system is a bit... annoying to say the least at times, but one can do without it as well.

Played a little bit of 3 (Or 6, in Japan) And enjoyed it, but never really got to do much in it.

I like Final Fantasy VI, as well as FFXII. FFX was unbearable in some spots, but definitely had its moments, especially once Tidus matures. Of course, my favorite FF-related game is Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, which is a godly gift to this world as far as I'm concerned.

Tried playing 7 when it came out. Never got into it. It was not my style of RPG. Also tried to play a few others, but for there time and systems some elements was lacking (the earlier games).

VII was strange to me... I love it, but don't consider it to be a true RPG due to it's ridiculous difficulty, (try a speedrun with no materia; you'll do just fine) and the lack of any real need of a strategy at any point in the game. I actually consider it to be more of an adventure game than anything else, but, as I previously stated, love it regardless.

Anyways, the pre-VII Final fantasies weren't all that exciting to me... I much prefer the Phantasy Stars and see them as being unique and more engaging than the ol' "Four Crystals; Four Heroes" tales of most of the old FFs, (VI was a fantastic exception).

As for VII and beyond... Well, I played VIII up until the first time you switch characters, (go from Squall to that guy in the Jungle) but quit after that as I just wasn't intrigued and saw no story to keep me going. I never played IX and know nothing about it... X was great as it was my first truly 'next-gen' game, (unless you count the many Dreamcast RPGs) so I got to experience full-blown voice acting in an RPG, which was awesome at the time. XI is Online only and as far as I'm concerned, it doesn't exist. XII was very unique and I've found that I've put the most hours into it, even if the battles do get rather dry after a while.

Yeah, I haven't posted here in a while and am still likely new to most people so... 'ello! *waves*

i would say that final fantasy 4(2 for the super nintendo) is my personal favorite...

it is my opinion that the final fantasy games were at their best, content wise and game replay value, before the advent of the playstation...once the p/s came out it seemed that the games were made more for graphics...just my 2 cents worth for you all

i loathe Square as a company, just because they'e messed me about so much, especially when applying for jobs, but Chrono trigger is one of my favourite games. FF6 is also a great game, it really is of epic proportions, and Dancing Mad is such a cool song.

Liked:
Final Fantasy III, played it on the Nintendo DS.
Final Fantasy VI, played it on the PS2 using the version they made for PS1
Final Fantasy VII, played it when I was 8 and loved it for everything
Final Fantasy VIII, loved the junction system when I found the game after three months of my brother hiding it from me.
Final Fantasy X, liked the sphere grid.
Final Fantasy X-2, liked the songs...That's about it.
Final Fantasy XI, have been playing this MMO for two years almost it's great until you realize to go places you have to rely on lazy, not talented people.
Final Fantasy XIII (Not released, but the CG they have leaked is amazing)

Disliked:
Final Fantasy IX, just... No, furries should /never/ be the main character.

FF games I haven't played yet:

Everything I didn't list.
