I recall having this discussion with a friend of mine, who claimed that PSO is part of the main series. Quite dense, that one.

IGN actually said it was a side story :) , that aswell as some other things made me second guess what I had "known". I'll find a link and be right back.

Their is not enough in game connection between The original PS and the two online PS. Other than having some items, races, and some names that are close to other names in past games. No discussion.

"It is indeed a sequel to Phantasy Star IV, picking up the story of Algo 800 years after Chaz Ashley destroys The Profound Darkness, but it resists the temptation to nullify that which came before it in order to move onward. Instead of destroying past continuity in order to rehash it, Phantasy Star Online opens a new chapter in the saga of Algo, building off the logical steps presented in the previous game."

The reviewer over at camineet.net seems to think they are related. Any thoughts?

Oh, camineet.net? He's a nice guy, but not reliable when it comes to Phantasy Star. He makes things up to suit his own image of the franchise. It all started with his "Noah is not Lutz" theory.

I wont buy some fan fiction based on the reasons they believe that they are connected. However, if and when Sega and/or Sonic Team say that they are connected, then I would see that they are connected.

I think they would have too much explaining as far as saying it was the "explosive finale" and all but yet it wasn't.

But, thank you all for your help :)

Mike Ripplinger was right. Get over it. :)

If you're serious, please start a new thread with your reasons as to why he is so we can tear it apart. ;)

Oh boy, Dorrinal, are you trying to say that they are related? I keep getting such conflicting viewpoints its kind of fascinating. I might just pick up PSO just too see for myself.

Sorry to confuse you there, Chris. I meant to say that Mike was right about Noah and Lutz. It's the oldest debate in all of Phantasy Star. I haven't read his thoughts on PSO so I won't pass judgement -- but I recall from playing through PSO that there is no narrative link between the games, just a handful of references.
