A continuity problem between PS IV and Drama CD

According to the Drama CD, Nei-types only live 2-4 years max. Nei and Nm-2011, the prize specimins of their group had the same fate.

Gene was ordered to do research on the Nei-type for Seed.

Since the Drama CD takes place 3 years prior to PS IV..

In 3 years there is no way Seed could have cracked the problem and made Rika not have a short lifespan.

This is especially true since at the end of the CD, Nei refuses to allow her sisters to live. She destroys them and goes to Seed to make sure NO more are made of her.

This means that Rika has a short lifespan just like Nei/Nei-second/Nm-2011. Rika could live to be 4, have a child and die making a half-newman and that child MIGHT have the same problem.

Now you can take the drama cd when it indicates that MORE farms like GENE existed for Newtype research... But..

The Drama CD still makes it quite a jump to believe that in 3 years Seed could have given Rika a normal lifespan.

How sad.. Rika has a max of 4 years to live.. Better make babies!

The exact quote from the Drama CD:

Our short lives... no matter what we do, we only have 3 or 4 years of life. And the same applies to you, sister.

Nei: Thank you. It makes me really happy that you feel that way. But you know, Rudy, even though we're able to talk with each other and laugh with each other, we're still far too different from each other. Yes, for instance, humans can have children and give their lives meaning.* But you know I.. er, no, we neitypes.. aren't able to do that. Moreover, our lifespan lasts only 3 or 4 years. It's so short that you can't even compare it to a human's.

Rudy: No way, that's just too awful!

Now.. even with this line, it is still bleak. The NM-2011 series is the same series Gene was working on.

Nei: Yes, it is. But you know, I was told that they're working on making neitypes that won't be like that. They'll be able to live just like humans do. So that's why I'm going to stay here, and use the remaining time I have left striving to bring happiness to my sisters. I'm doing this so that I may be able to face all my big sisters and little sisters who have already died, so I can make atonements. So please, understand, Rudy.

3 years to make a full lifespan Newman? PFFT.. Rika only lives 4 years!

This is just to offer a debate on whether SEED could have performed a miracle in 3 years XD

Eh, the Drama CD is something they tried to shoehorn in there just so they could make one. I wonder if it's even canon.

Is defined differently by each person. I somewhat dislike the concept of making one Canon for something. This leads to elitism and shunning of something that rewrites the Canon.

But still, even with the PS 2 settai of Nei aging 12 years for every 1 year it still looks bleak.

Rika was meant to get pregnant, have some kids and die. The new Half-Newmans would then be able to survive on Mota better.

Benoit, if it makes you happier, just think happy thoughts of more hidden domed farms with many Nei-types Lots of Rika's running around!

Originally, the CD was supposed to all take place in 1809 AW, which sets it way before the supposed 2281 AW that would place it 3 years before PSIV. According to the fanbook that accompanied the Drama CD, the cast from PSIV was never even supposed to originally appear. So they added them into the epilogue and prologue. So that makes it hard to say exactly how this story fits into the overall continuity since it seems to only be placed flimsily into it.

If Rika is 1 years old, though, that means she was born 2 years after the Drama CD. So that makes it even harder to believe that in 2 years Seed could improve the lifespan a significant deal. But I might also argue that Seed knows what he's doing better than Gene who was mostly crazy. But it's still not very probable, either way.

My only conclusion is that since Nei was at the end of her lifespan anyway, she decided to stick it out at the Bio-Plant until her death so that she could then let her will be passed onto another neitype, which would be Rika.

Nei did make the decision to have her sisters destroyed along with the Bio-Dome, but after hearing from Forren that Neitypes were not made just to kill humans, she alters her viewpoint from being against the research to wanting to help it be better and to wanting to help her sisters.

Nei: Me and my sisters weren't created for the purpose of killing people, right?

Forren: Right.

Nei: Thank you... But you know, I still don't want the research to be continued. I'm not saying that I won't allow it or anything like that. It's just that.. you never know if this place could end up like Gene one day, too. Forren, I know this may be rude... but I honestly can't trust the system here.

Forren: I don't have any guarantee for you that neitypes will never be used for evil purposes again. However, under no circumstance can I allow this project to be discontinued. The reason for that is because you neitypes are our last remaining hope.

Nei: I'm going to stay here. To make sure you guys don't repeat the same mistake. And, to make sure that these girls really can become that kind of hope one day.

So she sticks around to help out the other neitypes.

On a side note, I'm disappointed that Seed didn't have any lines.

When Rika goes to Birth Valley and sees her SISTERS, they are her line. The Nm-1100 series..

The 2000 series apparently was a Gene production making them perfect warriors..

It still sucks that my beloved Nm-2011 only LOST because Nei used a ancient weapon. If not for that claw.. Grr!

Nm-2011 even handicapped herself for Nei. One claw vs 2 to make up for Nei's old claw.. That Nei claw couldn't even damage the robot.

I say Nm-2011's defeat was a fluke!

Her life span was only 4 years and she sought something to make it meaningful. Defeating her sisters and the srongest Numans was her reason to live.

She disabled ONE of her claws to give Nei a fair fight. That was her mistake!

Had she not done that, she woulda kicked ass!
