A question about pronunciation in PS4

Postby Rykros » Sat Oct 20, 2007 12:04 am

Hey everyone,

This is kind of bothering me a bit and I wanted to see what the general opinion of the fan community is. How do you pronounce "Rykros?" I can't find any sources online confirming any particular pronunciation. At first glance it looks to me like the "Y" is a long "I" sound and the "O" is also long. But then the sound test on PS4, with its presumably direct romanizations, says "Ryucross" which is clear to me. However, that can't be correct with the lack of a "U" and such, so I'm just looking for other opinions. Thanks for the input.

I used to pronounce it "ri-cros" (long "i" and "o"), but then after seeing the sound test I started pronouncing it "re-cros" (long "e" and "o"). But I don't know for sure that that's right. I've never heard it get pronounced before in anything official.

i always said "rye-cross" too. seems to roll of the tongue better than re-cross to me for some reason.

in japanese it's written "ryukurosu", which was supposed to make it "Ryucross" (like what you said you saw in the sound test -- it was the intended spelling). i'm guessing "Rykros" was the best abbreviation they could fit.

I love NM-2011 so much too~ she's so cute and irresistable! ;n; i absolutely adore her even though she's so little known and even incorrectly labeled as neifirst according to some websites. >_>;

Well you know.. SHE is the template for Fal technically. Not Nm-1159.

Nm-1159 wasn't mass produced or altered, Nm-2011 was. If you look at her ears and compare to Rika's.. She is the template.

If Nei hadn't the Nei Claw, she would have lost to Nm-2011...

Grr...

When I can remember which is the english and which is the japanese, which doesn't happen too often (I've given up on Dezolis/Dezoris), I pronounce Rykros as 'rye-krohs', myself, with the oh pronounced just like the exclamation 'oh'.

Thats kinda how I pronounce it as well. Always found it one of those akward names to say, but eventually settled on saying Rye-Crose. Its easier to say and makes more sense to the 'Deemer.
Once I was Valis Warrior, and then the Redeemer. But now, I am back, with 7 years experience to my belt here.
