People that dislike Episode III are the same kind of idiots that dislike Phantasy Star III.

I'd agree on that one.
Since you can't rent PSOIII, why not go over to your friends house and at the very least, give it a try. What harm could that do? I went out on a linb and bought it without the privilege of trying it out prior to my purchase, yet I instantly loved it.
You owe it to yourself...but if not, your loss, pure and simple.

Episode 3 doesn't have a open ending. The game doesn't end until you beat Hunters and Arkz side and then face THE GERM.
There are like 4 real endings and that is it.
It's not open or closed.
It leaves room for a sequel if need be.
Once again, Those are prolly friends who never got past a single stage because they couldn't figure it out.
People give bad reviews on Gamefaqs for PS 2 and IV because they don't understand the techniques and why name them FOI/GRA. They think they should be the FF equivalents of FIRE, WATER, Lightning, etc.
Your friends seem to be that group.
PSO is not FF, It will never be. It will always be superior. Episode 3 is more addicting than Ep 1/2
Thats not very nice...everyone has a reason for disliking a game. %)

What harm could that do? I went out on a linb and bought it without the privilege of trying it out prior to my purchase, yet I instantly loved it.

That feeling is universal. I remember when I bought XG:2 for N64. I immediately loved the game, yet I had no idea what I was purchasing in the first place. But, some games you don't have to try to find out whether you will like them or not.
Little story...I was in a Wal-Mart a couple weeks ago. They had a little TV set playing some previews of Ep. III. I didn't like what I saw.

[Edit by Neo48 on [TIME]1092674312[/TIME]]

I'm an Idiot? Thats not very nice...everyone has a reason for disliking a game.

Well, you're kind of an exception, since you actually present a good reason as to your dislike. Still, you should try it first (I vaguely remember you trying, though).

Little story...I was in a Wal-Mart a couple weeks ago. They had a little TV set playing some previews of Ep. It startled me how much PSO:III is like the old PS games. But if you don't like the old games...
The GameFAQs kids seem to be the ones who were raised on Playstation and FFVII. Thus, they have no apreciation for the titles that manage to slip under the radar, like PS, no matter how much better they are then any rehash that Square-Enix puts out.
The problem is, people nowadays think they're hardcore RPG fans if they've played FFVII. I still don't see what's so great about that game.

I love PSOIII! It really goes back to the strategic roots of the series.
My current best Hunter deck is my Orland deck, Scar Tissue. I run a lot of 2 cost Sword-type items and hit for combos of 20 damage! HaHaHaHaHa- (cough) Yeah, sorry about that.
Still, I recently saw a deck to use against the final boss that looked good, and I made a similar copy. Basically, you have to cycle through you deck for three Daggers (although I also use Blade Dance) and three Mags. Choose one not to equip, and hit for a lot of damage. And always use Sil'fer for the highest ATK.
Also:

They think they should be the FF equivalvents of FIRE, WATER...

In PS1, Alis and Noah both learn FIRE. :p

Does "Scar Tissue" have any reference to a certain Red Hot Chili Peppers song?
I play on the Hunters side and am a specialist of the Ranger class, specifically Stella and Kylria. If you have any quesstions or comments, post them here. We're all pretty eager to discuss strategy.

[Edit by Siren on [TIME]1106088267[/TIME]]

I would play Ep III if only to follow the story (jeez I'm a bloody junky -_-), but personally I've never liked videogame tries at TCG more than I liked the late flood of TCGs themselves, especially after how opportunists have modeled the trend after the yellow fever. I don't recriminate Sega for having made Ep III into a TCG however, I understand perfectly their reasons (as I've consistently mentioned on other trends, nowadays they NEED to sell).
...hmm, thinking twice, I'd play Ep III for 2 reasons: the story and the music, as from the melodies I've listented to Ep. III seems to have some of the most beautiful music in the whole PS saga. :)
[Edit by ROMeo on [TIME]1106092521[/TIME]]

Yes, the soundtrack is beautiful.
On another note, I'd like to point out once again that Ep.III is not like your average TCG. Though its gameplay uses cards, it more of a strategic medium then the focus of the game. Cards are what you use to strategize... just like you use commands and menus in other strategic RPGs. Don't pass it off as another TCG.
Though, I certainly commend you for not hating the game before you've played it.
What is the average card game? There is none. They all have something that makes each other unique from the next. Never the less, its a pure card game.

Your average card game (here, TCG) has a bench for inactive monsters, and an active board for active monsters. No cases, no moving.
That's the biggest difference.
Also, there aren't any Story Characters in your typical TCG, and no persons that 'equip' things like weapons and armor.
