ok so that 8-bit thing was a typo.
and that's really good for a preview. they are right about the whole in-depth Rolf and Commander/General conversation. as well as the more in-depth Rolf and Nei discussion.

A typo is a mistake that you make when shortly not paying attention, but you know it's a mistake.
This was not a typo. The person is just ignorant. Gaming journalism these days sucks...

yeah right one really can't tell the difference between good and bad Japanese voice acting if you dont even know the language. otherwise they sound pretty much the same. and there is really no meaning to Japanese voice acting if you dont know the language which defeats the point of voice acting to begin with.
the only reason Japanese sounds okay to you cause you dont know what they are saying and how they are saying it according to their language's nature. foreign languages are so irritating.

I know good enough voice acting from watching subbed anime all the time, Saner you don't need to know the language just need to know what they are saying.

Japanese use inflection the same way we do. Even if you don't understand the language, you should be able to pick up the general mood of the character.
I think anime is a bad example because expressions and emotions are clearly exaggerated. The voice actors may be accurate, but it doesn't seem too difficult for me.

yeah true I like watching Seven Samurai with Japanes voices and english words but still, voice acting is never essential in Phantasy Star games cause it's more fun imagining their voice yourself.
not some squeaky missy trying to do Demi's voice.

Voice acting has a huge following in Japan. There are even schools for it. Bad voice acting a strict minority in Japan.
I appreciate Japanese voices. They can be cute and beautiful (for girls, anyway).

Regarding the 8-bit 16-bit "typo"...
Re-read that bit there, guys.

Back in the 16-bit era, Sega's Genesis was known for sports, arcade, and action games.
(....)
The remake of the original game, which hit the Japanese PS2 in August 2003 (H Hog's Note: they're referring to Phantasy Star 1 here), was forced to wildly re-imagine an 8-bit classic for the contemporary age.

Take the time to read before you judge.
