Story Progression. There would be lots of things to do. but there would also be a story you can follow that is like a alternate timeline of the real PSII story. There are 3 branches with their own set of missions to be completed, and all 3 branches meet in Motavia, where eventually you meet and defeat NeiFirst, and the story gets very different from PSII's. Palm doesn't get destroyed. but you still can meet Lutz, fight Dark Force and Mother Brain, and see a surprise 'ending' that's quite different yet very shocking cause it's related to the 'real' PSII timeline.
Communication would have your usual open chat, private whisper, party chat, yell (everyone within the 'exit' boundaries of the area will see it), and Visiphone (you can talk to anyone from any range with the Visiphone codenumber. it's kinda like FF11's linkshell.
emotes would be in too! making your chaarcter look more alive and snuggly! ^_^
as for battle recovery, you can 'Rest' to recover HP/TP slowly. there would of course be day to night real-time changes. as well as weather. plenty of side quests to do also. and updated optional bosses for advanced players. but don't worry, Technique users won't have all the fun. each weapon type gradually learn special attacks that are really cool. and you can even select different normal attacks to execute, and there are PS4-style Combinations Attacks to be discovered also.
All the classic PSII enemies are there on the field in real-time and respawn some time after being defeated.

Oh yeah and equipped weapons, armor, etc. are visible on the characters.
Species that have multiplayer classes can change their class when they are in their own virtual apartment. You can also invite up to 5 friends to visit your apartment. ya can arrange furniture and the chairs/sofa are useable.
All the music from PSII would be in it and the tunes are not arranged or butchered. they sound very true. ^_^ but there would also be a CD Player option that lets you choose all the music you want to be played at anytime (except the added boss battle tracks and some other ones).
favorite NPCs are back like Data Memory Girl, Teleport Cutie and more and now some of them are used for various purposes.
The character statistics are still RPG style but there is no accuracy option. if your weapon physically touches the enemy, that automatically counts as a hit. statistics no longer dictate whether you hit or miss. PHYSICS do.
and this makes positioning and range during combat more important.
You can play 3rd person and 1st person. and the camera is fully zoomable and stuff. you can shortcut commands and stuff. Keyboard is very helpful.
No voicechat. this keeps everyone equal in terms of communication.
TRANSPORTATION: There are several ways, like paying a free to use the teleporter, or renting a vehicle to drive outdoors for a limited time. (after that it disappears in a ray of cool lines made of light).
getting killed, if the player decides not to get revived, they can warp their body to the Clone Labs and they'll be fully refreshed. they lose EXP whether they get revived or not, but they can't level down.
Item carrying is limited. You can store extra items at your home. There are many extra dungeons beyond the original PSII ones.
There is a place in the major cities where you can auction items of all types.
Leveling up would be pretty merciful at the start. but gets slower later on. yet aside from that there is lots of fun things to do. Hunter's Guild, Government Missions, Civilian sidequests, Treasure Hunting, and of course the optional Story quest.
>>>>>>>yet since it would be an ongoing MMORPG, the story will not really affect the Algo solar system physically, cause after all, it would be messed up if your homebase is located on Palm and it gets blown up. and you can't go there anymore, but you still get messages from friends who are there and haven't gotten to that Palm Blows Up part in the Story quests. :p <<<<<<<
Overall, the worlds are very huge and very beautiful. especially the character designs. they dont betray the PSII style yet they have an even more beautiful presentation to them. (kinda like how I admire FF11's designs compared to past FF games. yet I feel for PSII MMORPG, the designs need to be more anime-like. bigger eyes, more colorful and spikey hair, etc. etc.
well it's hard to explain but some artists have drawn the right style I like best.
