Some of the reasons I-m not going to buy Final Fantasy 13...

New quests? Hmmm... Ok... Maybe he didn't play everything then and thought it was exactly like the one on the SNES... Bleh... back to the lab. I burned an IC because the voltage source was defective... I hope they don't wanna charge me for it... I want the money to get a new apartment of my own. >_<

Ho hum... another "FF is overrated" topic.

If people dislike the series so much, don't buy a copy and rely on your niche titles instead. Everyone moans about them churning sequels, yet Nintendo is notorious for that.

I haven't played any FF titles beyond Super Nintendo titles.

And I don't play Nintendo games anymore... except for Metroid... and that's occassionally. Most of what I play is actually very varied.

I already do that. Any other suggestions? :)

The difference is that Nintendo tries to do things differently every time, trying to keep things fresh. Final Fantasy only goes so far, and is mostly about the eye candy.

Yes it has, even if the basic template of the main games remains unchanged. The Wind Waker introduced a big sea to explore by boat. Twilight Princess added a wolf form. Phantom Hourglass also has sea travel, and makes great use of the touch screen.

FF13's plot has finally started to go somewhere. But it took 20 hours for it to do so. =(

I'm still annoyed with how linear it is. Run down a hallway and engage cutscene or boss fight. The game lacks exploration and the amount of control I have is rather small.

For the first time with you, I concur...

Final Fantasy is a great series

Just don't relate to one another very well... Still nice to find new elements in every game, with a lot of familiar ones to keep the fans happy.

Fix'd

But seriously, I used to really like those old games, but FF just doesn't bring anything new to the table anymore. It's just the same grind every time, with slightly better graphics and slightly worse playability.

And anyway, what kind of RPG fan would a person be if he/she would sacrifice intricacy for graphics?

One didn't love those old RPGs because they looked nice, the reason one would play them time and time again is because they're fun to play. Nobody's going to remember any of these newer games in a few years as more than the result of beating a dead horse.

From what you're saying, I am forced to assume you never played 10, 12, or 13... All three of them are completely original, an 10 has the best story I've ever saw in a video game, possibly even a book...

FFX is a lot like PS4... It had this awesome story, but the game was just too easy... I hate FFX because of it's easy difficulty, as my least favorite PS game is 4, because it'da made a better book, the game brought no challenge to the table...

FF12 is fricken' amazing... It's a complete original system, and unlike any game before it... FF13 I've got about 40 hours into it, and I'm more than pleased... I just, don't see how your argument is solid... But, we all have different opinions... I for one, enjoy the old school games, with their old school graphics, AND I enjoy the new school games as well...

From what you're saying, I am forced to assume you never played 10, 12, or 13...

I've played all of them(yes, ALL of them. 1 through 13) I did not feel satisfied with any single one.

All three of them are completely original

Of course they're all unique in their own way, the way being that it's not been done EXACTLY the same before. Sure, some things were original, to name a few...

FF10: The sphere grid leveling system. IMO, it was needlessly painful to use. I may just be conservative, but needing to collect certain items to be able to level up? No thanks.

FF12: The battle system. Overall it felt like I wasn't the one in control. I was just ordering my guys around and they kept getting killed all the time. And when I do play a Final Fantasy, I'm expecting the Final Fantasy battle system... Not some backwards RTS.

FF13: Hoo boy... Well after having played it around a total of 19-20 hours, I gotta say, It feels more like I'm playing an advanced DVD selection menu. If the previous installment had me feeling out of control, this one feels like watching a movie that I have to switch discs halfway thorugh.

an 10 has the best story I've ever saw in a video game, possibly even a book...

I'm not going to hate on that since your opinion is your opinion and I have no right to try and change it, but seriously? Abridged, It's about a guy with a strangely void mind who gets teleported to another world and has daddy issues. It's just a more advanced I am your father with a relationship thrown in. Actually, it does remind a lot about Star Wars ep 4, doesn't it... Main villain is the hero's father, He has a love interest he in the end can't have, also he has a hairy, brutish sidekick...

FFX is a lot like PS4... It had this awesome story, but the game was just too easy... I hate FFX because of it's easy difficulty, as my least favorite PS game is 4, because it'da made a better book, the game brought no challenge to the table...

I personally found FF10 very hard, but that was mainly because of how much it hates the player. It reminds me of FF2, the game overall is easy but the leveling system makes it feel like the game doesn't want you to play it.

PS4 was indeed easy, but don't you think this has a little to do with how fun it was to play? It was easy because the game was balanced between trying to kill you and holding your hand. PS4 wanted to be played. By everyone, of all ages. I played it first when I was four years old, and now I'm twenty and it feels the same.

FF12 is fricken' amazing... It's a complete original system, and unlike any game before it...

Well, the most I can say is to each his own. I didn't like it, you did. The end.

I just, don't see how your argument is solid...

Of course my argument doesn't look solid from your point of view, but think about it from the outside. Just look at how much you actually, ACTUALLY get to play in each game that has passed, how much time you really get to do whatever or just roam around. The possibilities for exploration are getting more and more limited. Like in the newest one. You're basically just walking between cutscenes.

I for one, enjoy the old school games, with their old school graphics, AND I enjoy the new school games as well...

And I enjoy neither. Everyone has the right to their opinion, and I for one believe that trying to change somebody else's opinion is a waste of time.

Just wish more people on the internet thought like that.
