Originally posted by Kienashe
There are certain files that are called "hidden files" which are programed to be invisible unless you change your settings to view them (somewhere in the control panel I think). If you can't see hidden files, that might be why you can't see them.

Open any Windows Explorer windows and click Tools -> Folder Options than click on the View tab than find the radio button than says Show Hidden Files and Folders.

Originally posted by Kienashe
I personally think that internet explorer is fine. I don't see how you guys can have so much trouble with your computors because of it (I think Internet Explorer isn't the reason).

Internet explorer is the reason, because on default the security settings aren't high enough and allows some site to upload files to your computer without your knowlege. You can download third party programs to correct this, but why when you can just get a new browser that doesn't have these problems.

Originally posted by Kienashe
There is also a program that comes standard for all versions of windows (That's what my bro said). To access it you need to be an "admin" on your computor (It's in the user thingy in the control panel.). Then click start, run, and type "msconfig". DON'T DISABLE WINDOWS SERVICES! The results won't be pretty. If a startup/service looks suspicious, uncheck it. When you log in, there will be a series of 3 windows, click ok on the first 2 and then exit without restart.
If somethings different it's because it's based off what I see on my Windows XP.

Alot of startup files will look they don't belong there. I suggest finding youeself a registry cleaner file (I use CleanMyPC) to clean out all the junk from you're registry that doesn't belong. You'd be quite surprised at the results that can give. You can have hundreds or ActiveX errors in your registry which can cause huge computer slowdowns and some programs to function with errors.

Kazaa Lite K++. A Peer-2-Peer downloading program (mostly for illegal files, musics, games, programs ect.), also full of viruses, so watch what you download.

I've only had one problem which I figured out quickly: If you have a keyboard with extra functions (Like a e-mail or home button), if you disable the process it uses to open those windows, the results won't be favorable. On my Dell the process is called, "DELLMMKB".

[size=small][Edit by Kienashe on [TIME]1090719779[/TIME]][/size]

So, depending on which Windows version you're running it can tell you these things. Also, spyware can hide itself by saying it's a Windows file. You have to really know what you're doing to play around with startup files, especially on Windows 2000 (which shows abosolutely EVERYTHING that starts up, which is alot). Besides, I suggested a registry cleaner to not only clean out the bad startup files, but everything else as well, Registry Intergrity, COM/ActiveX Errors, Bad Uninstall Entries, Bad Font Entries, Bad Shared DLL Entries, Bad Aplication Paths, Bad Help File Information, Bad Startup Entries and Bad File/Path Reference Entries. Romving these can greatly increase your computer speed.

[size=small][Edit by Tekno-Crystal on [TIME]1090740203[/TIME]][/size]

I don't, but...
MSConfig is good to use while you're looking for a program or while you are cleaning it yourself.

Allow me to add a bit, though.
Kazaa Lite K++ is the regular Kazaa with the spyware and adware removed, making it safer and faster. There is still some -ware in the form of cookies, but nothing to be worried about, and it removes when you uninstall.
Kazaa Lite K++ is illegal though, because it's a modified package of the original.

No, its bad QUOTE tag usage combined with the fact that you can't use the QUOTE tag in another QUOTE tag. In other words, you can't quote in a quote.
