I don't believe in selling my games and consoles. As such, I've still got some old stuff, and most of it still works.
Let's begin...
Nintendo Entertainment System (x2)
Game Boy (original)
Sega Genesis (original model) with 32X and Sega CD (Sega CD is second model)
Game Gear (x2) one with Sega Master System adapter
Sega Saturn
Nintendo 64 (I have never even turned it on since recieving it; my Uncle was just dumping it off, so I accepted it)
PlayStation (original model)
Sega Dreamcast (x2)
GameCube (x2-- one is my wife's)
There are 3 consoles that are no longer in my possession--
Atari 2600 (parents got rid of it when I was rather young, for no known reason)
Super Nintendo Entertainment System (brother took it)
Game Boy Advance (got stolen when my car was broken into a few months ago) with added "Afterburner" light.
Of all these consoles, only two have significant problems in getting them to operate, and only two of them don't seem to work at all.
One of the Dreamcasts (which I originally bought for my wife, long before we were married) doesn't work; this is because basically everyone below the age of 25 that wandered through that house would use this machine, and it's been subject to a number of 64 ounce soda spills, among other things. I believe it can be fixed by simply switching out the laser assembly.
The Sega CD doesn't seem to work. Again, it's a problem with the laser assembly. I'm thinking about it, and it occurs to me that I might be able to fix it by swapping it with the laser assembly from my old portable CD player.
One of the NES's has the familiar old problem of just not wanting to recognize that it's got a cartridge in it. I'm thinking that all I need to do to fix that, is to clean the leads that the cartridge plugs into, seeing that this seems to be what causes the problem.
Last, the PlayStation doesn't like to read CDs sometimes. Again, I think the solution to this problem is simply a matter of cleaning the device used to read the media; which, simply enough, just means that I need to stick a cleaner CD into the PlayStation and let it go.
So, yeah.
