That's a great addition to the game, but I would rather use a more useful character, like Hugh. ;)

Frell I've erased my G1 playthough great now I have to replay that before I can get Nei back ;_; well alteast its gives me something to do until my games arrives ^_^
I wonder if they will have something like that for G3/PS4... Yeah they will.

Actually, it's a horrible addition to the game. The fact that Nei can be revived takes away from the drama of her death, its meaning, and it doesn't make sense (Neifirst is not alive, she can't live without her!).

Maybe I played Phantasy Star II after I became a cold-hearted cynic, but I didn't care much at all about Nei's death. I was more annoyed that I could not swap her out for another team member. :)
And now that I think a little more about it, does Nei's death mean anything? If so, what?

It's just a nice addition for replay value, IMHO.
-Corey
Edit:

Thanks, PSP!
We love you!

I am lovable, aren't I?

[Edit by PSP on [TIME]1114713806[/TIME]]

Benoit, that's like saying that being able to unlock the final boss in a fighting game takes away from the drama of defeating him. Of course it doesn't! As PSP said, it merely adds a neat little twist to the replay of the game.

Benoit doesn't complain that you can revive Nei and use her in PS 2.
It's easier to revive her in PS 2, than in the new one.
Nice double standards.

If I'm not mistaken, you can only Moon Dew Nei for the fight with Neifirst. What PSP is referring to is a way to keep Nei playable throughout the entire game. Is that correct?

Being able to revive her takes away from the drama of her death, because then you won't think much of it, since she can be revived anyway.
There's also the obvious storyline problem that Neifirst wouldn't be alive, and Nei logically couldn't live.

You're comparing apples and oranges, here.

Not at all. Your point was that Nei's death impacts the player, to such a point that you believe that reviving her on the next playthrough would detract from that drama. I responded that therefore you must think that being able to play as the final boss of a fighting game detracts from the drama of that final conflict. Hm, sounds like a similar and apt comparison to me. As for the storyline problem point... it's moot; there's not much logic storywise in fighting the final boss with the final boss, is there?

You can't compare a fighting game to an RPG. A fighting game never (rarely?) concentrates on story and drama.
