I think it's because we would like the remake to do the original justice. The remakes will be a second, more shown face of the Phantasy Star series, so we would like it to have a good impression.
I personally also fear that people are going to come over here and say stuff like this: "Ya, the remakes on the PS2 is cool, the originals looked like shit."

I could say the same of PSO. Most people on GameFAQs keep asking if the remakes are sequels to PSO, and when told they're not and that these are new incarnations of games from almost 20 years ago...well, they're shocked. As someone who recently tried PSO, I could personally take everything you just said and apply it to PSO since it's *nothing* like the original series (notice only PSIII and PSO don't use the trademark logo type...and they're the only two that stray from the core series "feel" ).

Yes, but expand on it in a good way, and stay true to the original. Take PSIV's Alis and PSI's Alis. In a way, PSIV's Alis was a 'remake' of the original one. It was a different art style, and more colored, but you could see that it was Alis, and it stayed faithful to the original.
I find the frills to be totally out of place on her, and any combat outfit. It's also suggestive to other things.
Art evolves. Look at any comic character. Superman in 1939 looked a lot different than today. The original X-Men looked a lot different than they do today on paper or in the movies. It isn't an insult to greats of the past like Jack Kirby or anything of that sort, it's just another artist's interpretation.
To me, the changes made thus far aren't out of line. Nei doesn't have a mohawk, Alisa doesn't look like a heroin addict hooking on the corner for her next fix...
it's just another artist's interpretation.
And, *pst* Benoit? Alisa was black and white/blueish in the PSIV scene. I know the Master System didn't display a great palette of colors, but PSI was more colorful than that

-Corey
Edit: We can agree for once though, the frills look goofy. I will reserve judgement until the first week of March when I shoot through the game and see Neifirst though.
[Edit by PSP on [TIME]1106077749[/TIME]]
