Like I said, I was probably just looking at the wrong pictures. That's proof enough that she's more covered up now so I'll back off from that subject.<p>Now to read that thing.<p>Ok read it. The new designs match as much as the old with the possible exception of the ones modled after specific people. I have no clue what those people look like so I cant say.<br>I dont see Nei with red hair, I dont see Amy or Hugh with black hair and eyes, I dont see Anna with silver hair and I cant tell if the eyes shown are blue or green, Kain still doesn't have black hair(it's grey-ish though so kinda close on that one), and I dont see a blonde haired, violet eyed Shir. <br>So unless they include some of the abilities mentioned, Nei's enemy skills, Hugh and Kain's enemy control, Anna's instant death attack, and Shir's more complex stealing capabilities, this game's most likely just going to be, as Benoit said, the same game with more colors.<p>So until the game's released you cant really say that it's "done right", unless of course that link I was just given is inacurate.<p>[size=small][Edit by Demon Child on [TIME]1105934171[/TIME]][/size]<br><p>[size=small][Edit by Demon Child on [TIME]1105934617[/TIME]][/size]

I was referencing to "Anna being dangerously proportioned" and "Amy being fan service for guys who believe girls should be graceful" and Anna being "Fan service too"<p>Other subtle character nuances, as for personalities fit more with the new portraits.<p>Shir looks as pampered as she is supposed to be.<p>Nei's more modest outfit makes her slightly more addractive. <p>To put more emphasis:<p>Rolf:<br>Eusis has been assigned to his current position for two years. Since his character is influenced by the player's conduct, he has a normal, run-of-the-mill personality. But, in such times as when he is investigating the effects the evil creatures are having on the citizens' everyday lives or when he rescued the persecuted Nei, he holds a strong sense of justice.<br>He's a serious type of person, burning with a sense of duty, but he also has a careless, reckless side to him. He has a very frank persona upon which sarcasm is lost.<p>Rudo:<br>His body is a mass of muscles, but he's not a macho-man type. He wears a long, ashen-gray coat. (He's a fan-service character for middle- and high-school and college students who know bitterness and despondence.( He's a stoic, cool-headed man.<br>He should harbor complicated thoughts toward the evil creatures because they killed his family, but he never lets them show, always silently smiling. Once, he rescued a child single-handedly from the depths of a deep cave where evil creatures were nesting and made a name for himself as a Hunter; in his heart of hearts, however, he truly wanted to very soon make a mistake in hunting the evil creatures and die. He's a person who has the potential for suicide. That is the reason why, albeit unconsciously, he has a tendency to seek out dangerous jobs<p>Amy<br>Her bobbed hairstyle betrays her youthfulness more than her practicality. A fan-service character for old-fashioned males who think that girls should be graceful.<br>Born into a normal family, came to lead a normal like. Through her own abilities and a fluke twist of fate, she followed the path of medicine. She is currently a female doctor who has just finished her internship. At first glance, she impresses one as mild and delicate, she is actually an independent and, at heart, strong girl. She will sacrifice herself to protect the party. It's a pity that she seems insular and dour, but that is the fact of the matter. Since she's a pretty girl, though, it's a pretty insularness and dourness. [Note: the word used here is "nekura", which means "dark-natured", "introverted", "dour", "glum", "moody", and "insular". I've selected the above two, but it really isn't clear which meaning the text intends.]<p>Anna<br>A bit dangerously proportioned. Fan-service character for middle- and high-school and college students who like anime.<br>Having lost both parents at an early age, she lives among the dregs of society. Upon the appearance of the evil creatures, she sets herself up as a Hunter, but most recently she turned into a Counter-Hunter.<br>There are many persons of evil nature among the Hunters; it happens frequently that a Hunter turns around and become the "boss" of a town they were "protecting" or turns into a bandit. Those employed to hunt those evil Hunters down are called Counter-Hunters. Both when she was a Hunter and when she became a Counter-Hunter, she is a girl who possesses slightly sadistic tendencies in the thrill of the chase. That is to say, she is not in the job for the money - she is a natural-born Hunter.<p>Kain<br>If you look at the game settei, you see that Kinds's heart goes out to Nei. At about the time that Kinds came to play an active part in the proceesings, Nei lost her life in the battle with Neifirst.<br>And to think that, love having blossomed in such a short period of time between Kinds and Nei, that Nei would end up dead...... For Kinds, this would be the beginning of a tragedy, since he was planned out as an everyday human. Nei's child, like Nei herself, would age twelve years in one year's time. That is, in a mere five years' time, that child of Nei's would be 60, and in twenty-five years' time her own daughter would be 60, is a tragedy a bit beyond imagination.<br>This paradox is squared away a bit in the settei for IV.<p>Shir<br>Of Irish descent. Has blonde hair and violet eyes. Always neatly primped wherever she is.<br>Raised in a well-to-do family that wants for nothing, having received the highest of education.<br>Thanks to her parents' bequest, she has spent her whole life playing away, but she continues to be a thief as a hobby. She is proudly non-political. She has a habit of slouching. She impresses people as a by-all-appearances haughty girl, but she truly is a passionate, warmhearted girl. The hot blood of heroism flows through her heart, but she's a shy girl and ashamed to admit it.<br>She's also a confused girl... "Rudger's stoicism, Eusis's cuteness, Huey's naïveté, Kinds's stupidity...I just looove everyone!" She'll say "I am Shilka of the wind!" and then suddenly not be there. "No one can catch me!" and "Freedom is sublime" are her favorite sayings, but she really is ensnared by such chivralic virtues as a sense of justice and compassion.<p>The new char designs fit more. Err....you guys are aware that the character descriptions from the World of Phantasy Star aren't the final versions, aren't you? These descriptions are from a phase of the development of PS2 before the work on the characters and their backgrounds was finished. So both properties and backgrounds have changed on the way from these settei to the final versions, on which the game was based. I think, the reason why this version was published in the book is, that they wanted to give the readers some insight into the development process. Personally, I wouldn't give them too much weight in this kind of discussion.<p>As for Nei's new looks, that's one of my major gripes with the remade character designs. I don't think she looks 'slutty', though. I think rather that she looks too 'tame' (as opposed to ferocious, that is). The frills on her outfit and the new collar add considerably to this impression. She doesn't make that feline impression of her original anymore.<p>But as I said already, my main concern is with the story and we can't say much about this part of the game until it is released.

Bah.<br></blockquote><p>you're way too over-critical. what did you expected? it looks almoust perfect to me: graphics, maps, character design, battle field, storyline hasn't been changed as you can see and that what makes it so cool. it looks so alike to original design, all what has been change is the quallity of the graphics, textures are more richer, battles are quite nicely improved, it even has a background in it, what makes it a blast for my oppinion for a console such as PS2. would you like it more if it would be whole in 3D, to have an unrecognizible new battle system, with chars you cant even identify like Kain from Huhn? would you like to see that? it's so alike to the original Phantasy Star 2 and i'm so glad about it that they havent changed it too much. charakter desing looks cool to me. <br>Nei's ugly? rofl ! look how cute she is ^^ that bandana on her neck looks great~ <br>rolf is less a man.. geez how did you expected him to look like? he looks right under his age, a confident, well-built young Paseo agent. everything fits well to me. cant you give it just a little bit credit instead of criticizing Mostly everything peaple are working on so hard to do their best on restoring our beloved games? show some respect...<p>i'm so glad that Phantasy Star 2 is finnally been remade and after all these years has been brought up to life. it's so familiar to original one. overall, i give it 9.5 out of 10

well said Hero, what you said on page 2 is true. ^_^ <p>we should show some respect cause this remake is looking to be very identical to the original game. so what that the new character designs are a little different. you are nitpicking too deep and you'll never enjoy the game. <p>they are even brining back the blue battle grid as an option! that goes to show how much they care about the original experience! <p>other remakers would ditch the fact it takes place in Algo, and turn Rolf into a guy with lost memories that involve a silver haired villain who burned his village and Nei would be Rolf's love interest, etc. etc. <p>so lets be happy and accept how awesome the PSII remake will be.
