Nei outfit

Does it make any sense?
Swimsuit? Or just light outfit made out of some kind of Core-tex? + Sandals (at the beginning of PSII)

Let's discuss about this. Here's what we talked on other thread:

But no. I wouldn't.
Pea, what makes you think... Have you tried?!?

There's also the ears. I've seen a cosplay picture here, and I'm not convinced it'd be very easy to get the ears good enough for such a... rigorous activity while still having a realistic feel. The naivete of a girl who's only lived for 2 years would be pretty hot, though.
Zucca wrote:Personally I don't like Nei-costume. It's a f*king swimsuit! Everyone else in PSII has more reasonable outfit. But eh... Maybe Nei was grown in a water tank, and for some reason there wasn't no other clothing than swimsuit available when Rolf/Eusis found her. Or at least He convinced Nei so. How dirty of him!
Anyway I found no reason why she wears that costume.

...Maybe Rolf thought of her as more than a little sister at that point?

True, she has no real reason to wear something so skimpy, but I bet the handwave is probably something along the lines of her animal side doesn't like the weight and thickness of clothing, so she asked for something thin and light so she wouldn't feel it on her. The game states that she hates carrying a heavy load, they might've taken it to the extreme there. There's also the possibility that it might've been a niche fashion in the PSII world similar to the Goth-Lolita fashion in Japan, hence how Seed gave Rika an armored equivalent to that swimsuit in spite of the fact most parents would have to pick their jaw off the floor if they saw their daughter dressed like that.

Although in PSGII the costume looks maybe more protecting: Image

In PSG:2, it has a lot more frills and accessories added, but it still doesn't look anywhere near protective to me. I personally prefer the original, but I've been trained for years on the KISS principal (Keep It Simple....), which is the opposite of character design theories, where accessories and details harken back to when animations were hand drawn, and more details made it simpler to hide any mistakes in a given drawing.

Nei's basically the kind of fighter where heavier armor actually hinders instead of helps.

I'd do 'er... if she was real...

Aaaaaanyway...

Her outfit is not protective in either design. It would hinder her either way. For example, have you ever seen a girl run while she is wearing something that doesn't go over her shoulders? No. Wanna know why? Because her boobs would dance like mad and free themselves. Nei's outfit is an idea with one hand on the paper, the other on the designer's crotch and his brain in the gutter.

But what a nice gutter...

AHEM...

Not protective.

It's a leotard, which gives the wearer maximum agility. It's a perfect fit for Nei, I think.

That's the only explanation that has at least a bit of logic.

I always thought Ben's thought was the commonly accepted response, but I suppose not... >.>
