Foie in French is "fwa". No "ah", no "ay".

My pronunciation in Spanish is exactly like the Japanese one. Spanish and Japanese are almost phonetical equivalents. I say almost, because some phonems are different, but only two or three out of the whole bunch.

So Foie is Foie. I never studied french (and still am lazy to do it). I never new about livers being called "foie" (fwa).

I don't know if this has any relation, but some games in the Shin Megami Tensei series have a spell called Zan, its describes as a Force element spell.

The Compendium is full of shit and not canon, just fan-service.

The Compendium is an official Sega publication and is therefore canon. That doesn't stop it from having information that contradicts the games, of course.

The Compendium retcons what it may contradict. Though I don't recall it contradicting the games too much.

The Compendium contradicts Algol's genesis and the original Phantasy Star's back story. That's some pretty serious retconning there.

As an aside, it also establishes Alisa as becoming queen after her adventure, which she didn't become in Kodama's original vision.

The Compendium is mainly promotional material for PSIV. To me it's about as canon as that stupid drama CD, which is to say, I can live with them being canon, but just barely. It's interesting and I love the sketches and other artwork, but a lot of the material just seems poorly thought out at best. I can't say I've ever been impressed with the total worship of Lutz and Alis that goes on in that book.

By the way, what is canon: Rudo/Rudger had a son or a daughter? The Compendium and his unused settei in WoPS say daughter. His SegaNet game says son and even gives him a name, John. Are both canon? Does the text game trump the publication? Vice versa? I'm going with son, since the text game bothered to flesh out his back story a bit, but probably either could be correct.

I probably sound like a broken record, but I would like it a million times more if it did not include PSIV characters.

The books and the text adventure are both canon. But I'd take the game over a book, personally.
