Phantasy Star Generations: PSI, II, III, and IV

Postby CelestOrion » Mon Nov 09, 2009 9:29 am

I believe I mentioned in my welcome thread that I was working on remake of all the Phantasy Star games into one timeline, in the Generations style? Well, I've managed to salvage together a little 'teaser' of what is yet to come. Compare to the official intro, and let me know if anything needs worked on, other than adding the music or fixing the last image.

You know, it's funny, but a buddy of mine is actually translating PSG:1 as we speak. He's about 2/3s of the way through and will be presenting an screenshot LP of it over at Something Awful once he finishes up running Megaman 4.

Should be interesting to see where both of these get to.

That is quite interesting. Well, once I'm through with PSG1, I'll only move onto PSG2, then I might recruit some people to work with me on making PSIII more dialog-advanced, whilst I improve their graphics. Hurr, just the thought of it gives me chills.

There is a team led by Orakio Rob translating PSG1 to portuguese, and making some serious progress.
SEGA owes me money!

Pity I wouldn't be able to play it and understand what they're saying. Mind you, this isn't an edited ROM I'm working on, but...hmmm. I guess 'fangame' might fit one aspect of it, while 'revamp' would be another. You see, the game starts with a prologue explaining the events up to the beginning of PSG1, and the game ends at the end of PSIV. I'd be completely refurbishing III, and enhancing music/graphics to IV to fit the Generation-style.

EDIT: Seems like Orakio Rob hit me up on Youtube, showing interest in my translation attempts. We might be able to help each other out, woo~

Yes, I'm currently working with a small team on the translation of PSG1 into Portuguese, but rest assured, after we're finished and everything is in order, there will be an English version too. I'm already in contact with some people and this is definitely going to happen.

We have solved most of the issues, and we're already translating the script. What we have now is enough, but we are trying to find a way to fit more characters on each line, so players won't have to press the button three or four times to read a single sentence :) The japanese characters are just toooooo wiiiiide...

Still don't know how to help you out on your spacing issues, Rob. =/

I'll say this, though, since some people think I'm making a ROM hack like Orakio Rob's team, which I'm not. I'm recreating the game with a program known as RPG Maker XP, perhaps some of you might've heard of it. The first issue for me was decompiling the script for me to translate into English, which Rob helped me out with (thanks again). The next step was to rip the sprites/battlers/music/etc., which I'm still working on. Thirdly, we'd need custom RGSS scripts to mimic PSG1. So far, I've got the battlers being animated as need be, while I'm working on menu skins and layouts. I should have the prologue finished today, so I'll post a link once it's done.

Oh my god,
That will be a real piece of work. I esteeme your courage and your idea.

What do you need for your project? I don't know about RPG maker but I might be able to help if there is a need for a translation.

Well, I've got PSG1 translated, but I will definitely need PSG2's script. Also, since I'm making PSIII/IV in Generation format, I'll need some people to build upon PSIII's script, lengthen it out, and people to work with me on redoing scenes in PSIV.

I'm also thinking, the scenes taking place in between every millenia, if I should do voice-acting, or just let things flow like normal gameplay.

EDIT: Well, dammit. Looks like the First-Person view script for RPGXP doesn't support walls in a horizontal sense like PS does, more like Sword of Vermilion. So I'll just make the dungeons overhead to be uniform with PSII, III, IV. Working on Camineet's map and the menu system right now.

Oh, hey, I'm alive.

I lost literally all of my data and work that I had put in on the project, so I really doubt that I'll be continuing this project anytime soon =(

Intrestingly, I don't belong to either.

Huh... So you're not part of the people then... =P

Let's make a little modification:

There are three types of people: Those who make backups, those who have never had a hard drive crash... and those with a damn long streak of good luck.

Welcome to the definition of people, Zucca! :D

Celest: I know how that is... Believe me... I just went through that this last December!
