Let's see...
I have a NES, a SNES, 1st issue Genesis (the one with the headphone output), 3rd Genesis, Dreamcast, Gameboy SP, Gameboy Micro, and Nintendo DS.
I don't think I'd like to see a new Sega Console.
First off, it's realistically impossible seeing as how Sega has whored themselves out to all the different leaders of the console war (Mario & Sonic @ the olympics?) and to get their own IPs back on their own console would be a major stretch and likely destory many of the relationships that are keeping Sega afloat (Let's face it... how often do you hear of a Sega game you get excited about? Hardcore Sega fans need not answer.)
Secondly, even if in a theoretical scenario, Sega could maintain all their relationships and release a new console (despite the fact that they sold all their hardware technology to Nintendo) AND, (we're going on a major stretch now!) GET FANS EXCITED AND WILLING TO BUY IT IN NUMBERS SUFFICIENT TO MAKE IT A LETHAL COMPETITOR IN THE CONSOLE MARKET!!! -----
----
---- You still would not get very far past the fact that Sega seems to have a natural habit for shooting themselves in the foot(you know what I mean), and let's be honest with ourselves here... they've been doing it for over a decade now.
So one way or another... I just don't believe Sega could pull off a new console without burying themselves...
In your wildest dreams, Sega couldn't pull off a console release on their best day...
