My favorite Phantasy Star game was the original. I'm curious to know if others agree with me, because though I really liked all the PS games, none have overshadowed the Alis's adventure. My reasons: The quality, replay value, and originality is still unmatched in games today. Though the graphics are now totally outdated, I'm hoping the remake takes care of that (please come out for GC).So, what are your opinions?

My favorite is Phantasy Star 2. It was first rpg, and it's the one game that keeps calling me to replay it every once in a while. PS1,2, and 4 are all great though.

Most people tend to like their first PS game more than the others.
I like PS1 because it was way ahead of its time, technically. As for graphics, for example, It´s better than PS2, in my opinion. I can´t look at a battle background in PS1 and not think they are the most beautiful battle scenes I have seen. The monsters are extremely well designed, and decently animated. Animations are a topic that more advanced games, like the SNES Final Fantasy games and PS3, lack. Plus, the music is beautiful, even with only 3 channels, and every theme suits well in all the situations.
It´s a long game. You spend hours and hours playing it, having to rish back to the nearest town to heal your party all the time. The fact that you stay with the same party in the whole game makes the characters look more familiar to you, which helps you to develope their characters, even without much in game texts about them. In the other games your party changes a lot, so you get only a vague familiarization with the characters, besides the main character. This is another thing I like in PS1.
We could deffend that PS1 is an 8-bit game, and can´t be compared with the other 16-bit games... but I think it´s the best game because this one actually can.

PS1 is great it was ahead of its time (and I agree about the battle monsters and backgrounds) to bad they lacked on the character normal looks. (out of battle)

People never give PSIII it's due credit. Sure, the monster animations really sucked, but the gameplay, once again, had elements to it that RPGs had never seen. I think they had the right idea going on with the generations thing, yet, in a way, I'm glad they didn't implement it in the next game because then PSIII would've lost it's odd (and facinating) appeal. Overall, I think the game was great, of course your entitled to your own opinions...

I like part 1 also...I think my fav is part 2 though...I don't know why...although I must say the 3d dungeons in part 1 were breakthrough...its a shame they didn't include them in the other series...

It's a hard question, if I have to make a choice, then I choose PSI, it was the first I played, it was the longest, and it's the only episode that gives you the freedom to choose what to do, in whatever order you want to.

[Edit by Goldark on [TIME]1076928110[/TIME]]

PS3 is my second favorite of the series. But I´m a critic, and must point out what is bad and what needed more work, like the tech system (besides healing spells, they were almost useless), the vague battle system, the graphics (even though monster and character designs were great), animations, effects, speed, texts, mazes (they are too easy)... they all needed to be improved.
The music is brilliant (different battle themes triggered by different situations, like when you are gonna win, when the battle gets hard...), specially the main theme and its variations (the ending credits tune, Laya´s World theme). The character sprites are special. Wren turning into vehicles is genius. And the backstory of Orakio and Laya is, perharps, my favorite moment in the whole series.

I also have a hard time to choose my favourite ps-game...
Ps3 was the first I played, so naturally it'll always have a special place in my heart. Then I love Ps2 for it's gigantic mazes which take forever to go through. Ps4 is just so complete and concludes the story nicely. Ps1 is the one I've played the least, but it's a really amazing game, which was revolutionary by the time it was released.
And by the way LaconianShot, if you don't mind I recommend you to scale-down your avatar a bit. It really mess the board up with it's size...at least for me ;)

The thing that is very good about PS4 is that the characters ACTUALLY take part in conversations.
I mean, In PS1, 2 and 3 the characters only took tiny parts of talking at special parts such as in PS1, meeting Myau, Odin and Noah. In PS2 when Nei died and in PS3 when you meet your party members or went to one of the moons.
In PS4 the characters always have something to say which really brought me into it.
