Get them yourself. You're the one learning Japanese.
Still, I hate the fact that Alisa doesn't care about her quest in the remake. Fucked up.

My opinion on the remake

This is probably the fifth thread on the remake so I am NOT going into the specifics of the game again. If you look hard enough at the old threads, my comments are there. No one needs to supply quotes. Also, if you need proof that I'm not just making this stuff up, others on this board have asked me for help in getting past certain parts and I have done so--even in areas that revolve entirely around the text/translation.
Here is the summary line (lost count of times typing this one) ~_~ If you have the original, and you've played and you liked it, there is NO reason to get this one.
(PS--ooh, bad pun--sorry about the surly-ness, but this horse has been flogged to death....)

My opinion on the remake

Very well, I disagree. At worst, I'd equate this to the Lunar remakes, which were still faithful to the original incarnations, simply different. I liked both, and own both.
One thing I'm curious about though. Alisa, even as the lead, had eight lines of dialogue in the original english translation. How are you guys taking so much, as canon, from this? Nothing strikes me as making her particularly brave or vengeful. Hell, she says "I'll make sure my brother died not in vain! Watch over and protect me Nero!" ...and that's it. Not exactly a boatload of character development.
"We will be fellow travelers. I'm Alis; What's your name?" <--My God, you can just FEEL the vengeance!
"I've received a letter from the Governor. Please read it." <--Oh, the bravery of this young girl! You can tell she cares so much about her quest to avenge her brother!
Please. Cut the crap. Alis is a practically blank canvas that one can draw whatever more intricate lines they wish. This is simply one interpretation.
And Benoit...shut up about the remake. Your arguements are sad and not even supported by anything more than your own unfounded or poorly founded opinions. You haven't even played the damned thing.
As for ill-intent, you I can at least respect. You believe it adds nothing to the original for you? Fine. As I said, it's a seperate interpretation, and one I'm not fully turned off by. It won't replace the original, but it'll go on my shelf just as the original does. Still, thanks for your opinion. Once I am fully able to comprehend the language, I'll post my own.
-Corey
