We should be optimistic, but it's hard. Sega obviously didn't treat the task of remaking PSI as a priority.
Can we be sure they will do the same with the others? No, but we can't count on it that they won't. The first remake is proof.
I'm afraid of what they will do to the others, lest they taint what PSII, PSIII and PSIV are. PSIV is as good as it can be, while still being an old-school RPG. If they want to remake it, I fear that it will be changed drastically. Porting it over would be a better idea.
I prefer to stick my head in the sand and ignore the remakes. I could be content with the remakes us fans make. But, I'll still pay attention to the remakes (how could I not?) and perhaps they will be done well. Maybe by the same team that worked on the original. That is my hope.

As the PS1 remake achived low sales since its relase in Japan, it gives Sega a good reason to try and improve the PS-remake francise, so that it will appeal to fans old and new alike in order to make a huge profit out of it.
After all, Sega are in dire need of money to keep their company surviving, so they better get their act together quick before they lose more fans just like how they managed with the releases with the Saturn and the Dreamcast. Those were Sega's darkest days indeed.

Actually, the same company is developing the others, but they are not attempting a PSIII remake. I think that there's too much work to be done there for them. I think they're afraid to try. But if they did try, and made PSIII all the things it should've been...they may end up gaining our favor after all. And not to mention making a little money, too.

Keep in mind, the original PS remake is part of the "3D Ages" series. Remaking old Sega games in 3D. BUT they also aren't selling them for much to begin with (alot cheaper then a standard PS2 game). Because of that, they can't put too much work into them. I've played the Golden Axe remake and it's no where near the current standards of the PS2. It's unfortunate, but I can't say I believe they will try harder for 2 and 4.
As for Sega wanting to make money, ever since the old prez died, all Sega of Japan cares about is arcade. Console stuff is limited to it's ol' favourites and is a distant second.

Well personally I think someone needs to go to the new prez of Sega of Japan and beat him down with a smart stick to counter the stupid stick he was beaten with as a child.

Nintendo needs a new president too. Now all Nintendo cares about is connectivity betweeen GCN and GBA since the old prez stepped down. Perfect example: Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles. I think Nintendo will end up like Sega: no consoles and millions of dollars in debt.
...sorry. Off topic, I know.

Hardly. They still have millions and are still making more.
Also don't forget that they are still the king of portables.

Heh...yah...GBA is great.
But nobody thought that it could happen to Sega, either. If they don't get into online gaming, it may break Nintendo.
Even Iwata said:" If we succeed, we rise to the heavens. If we fail, we sink down to hell" and this was regarding the next few years of Nintendo, and how they are saying that they will try to reinvent gaming itself.
The point is, never say never.

He was saying that Nintendo was misguided in where they focus, and that they could end up like Sega. Sega was big, like Nintendo, but they didn't focus in the right direction and now they're in debt.

Sega never was really big. The profit they made with the Mega Drive they spent on other projects. They had no backup. Nintendo have.
[Edit by Benoit on [TIME]1079982257[/TIME]]

Looking at Sega´s history, Benoit is right. Sega was some kind of adventure, always way behind Nintendo, except for the time when they released Sega Genesis. The problem is that Sega used much money on games made by them than just porting games made by outher parties. When the 16-bit era was ending, Sega didn´t have a real project to keep their console tradition going, and tried to patch this deficience with 32X, Mega-CD, Saturn... expensive devices with little quality titles available. They were always behind someone, or just didn´t hit the market properly (I personally never saw any of those in any TV advertisement, nor anything over here). Dreamcast, even though it was superior in some points, was behind PSX in popularity (which was greatly boosted by the Final Fantasy ports).
As I said, Sega was an adventure that is about to end, unless a miracle happens.

I've always found SEGA much more addicting than Nintendo. They had the courage to create new things...Nintendo always does the same.
If you loved Mario you will always play Mario...but if you don't you'll never support Nintendo.
Nintendo must create something new to apply the new generation's players, or it will face the same destiny as SEGA.
