OK frustrated a bit with PS3

i don't mind walkthroughs for the following reasons:
1) what's the point in an enormous archive of collective wisdom if nobody reads what's been written?
2) if you don't read walkthroughs, you sometimes miss fascinating hidden stuff such as your stats going down when you reach level 100.
3) occasionally you really do get totally stuck

That's answered by your point 3.

if that was true, why do people write walkthroughs of the whole game, including the controls, how to begin the game and the easiest bits in the game, instead of just the bits everyone gets stuck on?

That's why there are FAQs and small guides about hidden stuff.

but if you have them in the main walkthrough, you can put them next to the point in the game where it would make more sense to find the hidden part- some hidden parts can only be accessed at precise points in the game.

I agree that walkthroughs can be almost like cheating to win. I think one exception is if it is a game you have already beaten the hard way, and are going through it again. i think at this point you have earned the right.

if that was true, why do people write walkthroughs of the whole game, including the controls, how to begin the game and the easiest bits in the game, instead of just the bits everyone gets stuck on?

-Because people are so stupid that they often lose their manuals, or don't even read them.
-Because everyone is different, and will be stuck at different points.

but if you have them in the main walkthrough, you can put them next to the point in the game where it would make more sense to find the hidden part- some hidden parts can only be accessed at precise points in the game.

That's not necessary. Specifying the point in the game shouldn't be hard.
