Phantasy Star 3 question.. Why did they do this?

Postby Lord Khyron » Mon May 16, 2005 12:21 am

According to the Sages at Skyhaven..
The ultimate evil dwells on a floating city in the
barren waste lands of the dome named Terminus.
Now my question is, Is the ultimate evil Rulakir? If so, why do they need the Nei weapons to defeat him.
But the problem is.. Orakio's sword pins Dark Falz to the sunken fortress in Landen.
Is it pinning his body? If so, does his spirit infest teminus and possess Rulakir?
I've often wondered, did Orakio just seal the body of DF in the temple?
As a spirit, DF can't do much. Did he need his body?
this quote..
Narrator:
You pull Orakio's Sword from its stone sheath. Engraved on
the floor is "I hold Dark Force."
Dark Force:
At last I am free of my vile bonds! Tremble, fools, for I
roam the worlds again! Other matters await me, but we will
meet again!
Is Dark Force rejoicing for his body being released?
Couldn't Dark Falz have been trapped their anyways, once the heroes defeated Rulakir and fixed the problem?
P.S. I fixed the name, I posted on the wrong topic x.x
I asked because.. Dark Force seemed incapable of doing anything on his own while his body was trapped.
The people of Lashute coulda been killed and therefore the spacehip saved.
Why did they have to go through all that trouble? Couldn't they have just kicked RUlakir's ass?
I know the game doesn't let you do a damn thing to Rulakir unless you get the weapons..
But let's go WHAT IF..
Was releasing DF necessary?
[Edit by Lord Khyron on [TIME]1116203129[/TIME]]

[Edit by Lord Khyron on [TIME]1116203286[/TIME]]

Phantasy Star 3 question.. Why did they do this?

the time scale and linearity seems to be a big problem in ps3. you can visit the places where event B happens before event A, but if event B is supposed to lead on from event A, you won't see event B happening even though you went there first. for instance, on Ayn's timeline, you can't rescue Thea from lalonde unttil the guy says 'i went to the castle a while ago and unlocked the gate', even though you went there recently and he couldn't possibly have unlocked the gate that fast.

Phantasy Star 3 question.. Why did they do this?

Since the first time I played PS3 I have the impression that Dark Force´s spirit was always active. It´s a known fact that DF spreads confusion and evil into the people´s souls (Lassic, Zio, earthmen, Orakio, Rulakir), and we also observe that Layan and Orakian leaders are fighting a non-existant war against invisible enemies. Why were they doing that?
Dark Force´s influences had driven them mad to throw them against each other and destroy their races. And now that they woke up, instead of stopping and evaluate the current situation, they continued to attack their former enemies. This was Dark Force´s objective since the beginning, since PS1, the destruction of the palman people. So I bet Lune and Siren were under his influences - though not really possessed, like Rulakir.
With Dark Force´s spirit roamng around and spreading bad feelings throughout the spaceship, I guess only his body was sealed. With his body he could do physical damage to people, ship structures, or anything that was needed to destroy that civilization - and the only way he could be killed by the weapons they had available there. They could have killed the evil people in Lashute, but Dark Force´s spirit would still be active. He got Rulakir, but he could have corrupted anyone else, and he would if he lost Rulakir. So they had to free Dark Force to be able to defeat him, to weaken and seal him again for more 1000 years.

BEsides in every ending, he claims to return in 1000 years...
We can make a PSO parallel with the Great Shadow and Dark Falz

Or PSII or PSI for that matter.
(Realizes that this is a PSII only discussion)
And I think there is one ending that he doesn't make that claim.

I believe they all do. Just like 3 out of the 4 end up at the 3rd planet from the sun. One of those endings is Earth..
So then it was needed to free Dark Force, and then kick his ass?
Not just kill the people of LAshute for what they did?
I think the Lashutans fled from the fallen Fortress...

Although they wouldn´t be able to kill Dark Force, it was needed to weaken him once again, since it was the time for him to gain full powers again. Even sealed, he was acting up. But to weaken him, the only way was to fight him and defeat him, and the only way to do this was through physical means (with a little help of spiritual means, through the Nei Word... empowering weapons with a light force against darkness would make common weapons quite effective against it), and to do that they had to free Dark Force (even though they - and to a certain level, we - don´t know why the hell they are doing that).
I think that defeating Dark Force caused a "black out" on his negative influences. I don´t know, though, if the lashutans would come back to normal. I know Rulakir wouldn´t, as he didn´t when Dark Force was sealed the first time.

There's one thing you guys are forgetting. When you go to Lashute before freeing Dark Force, Rulakir and the people there are still good. What's up with that?

Are they truly good, or just putting on a good facade? Remember that this is what happens when you attempt to speak with Rulakir:

When your party tries to speak with Rulakir, he says nothing. The narrator only supplies us with this:
Narrator:
Waves of blackness wash over you.

Personally, I'd say Darky was probably possessing Rulakir and when his corporeal form was released, his power increased manyfold and darkness spread through the entire city.
Just a guess though...why the recent PSIII kick, Khyron?
-Corey

3 of the endings claim to be near the "3rd planet from the sun" One of these planets, on one of the endings is Earth.
I could conjecture the other 2 are earth, but there is no communication to earth. Since Earth is the 3rd planet from our sun..
Either ending, DF returns in 1000 years so it doesn't matter.

why the recent PSIII kick, Khyron?

PS 3 leaves more questions than the other games and I am curious as to how much was really omitted. PS 3 has the most debateability out of all of them.
[Edit by Lord Khyron on [TIME]1116287566[/TIME]]

I don't think Dark Force has the potential to directly influence anyone more than Rulakir. Probably not Lune and Siren, and definitely not the entire populace of Alisa III.
Rather, the hate between the Layans and Orakians was caused or inspired by Dark Force's influence and presence. In the aftermath, the Layans and Orakians still held eachother in the same respect as they did while they were warring, and they passed this down.
The situation is the same for Lune and Siren. They were both generals of the opposing armies, and as hateful as the other members of their respective races. They were isolated on the moons before Laya and Orakio sealed away Dark Force, so they don't know that the war has ended; they are still at war. Also, the isolation can make you...weird... and both Lune and Siren came out warped.
A feeling started by Dark Force has grown, natural...but not directly influenced other than creating the cause.
[EDIT] Feh, just some structural editting...
[Edit by Siren on [TIME]1116298474[/TIME]]

I see the resting Dark Force acting like Sauron. Without a physical body and his powers not yet fully recovered, he could still manipulate weak souls. A conflict that ended 1000 years ago still feedinghatred seems to me like a dark cloud planted by Dark Force himself to prevent the people to unite forces against him when he came back. He failed only because of a few adventurers who somehow had a strong enough will to fight together for the survival of their races instead of beating up each other.

Originally posted by Alis in Wonderland
the time scale and linearity seems to be a big problem in ps3.
Indeed, for this is the most disappointing aspect of PSIII -- it’s lack of consistency with the rest of the series.
For example, the Dark Force itself is nothing more than a concentrated form of black energy created from the core essence of this energy that is the Profound Darkness. The Dark Force also serves as a medium to transmit black energy from the dimension that the PD is imprisoned and outside of the dimension where the seal itself is placed, which is, as you all may know by now, the Algol Solar System (a.k.a. The Gorgon’s Head or the Demon’s Star). Without the existence of the core, how can the extension that is Dark Force exist when its purpose -- to destroy the seal that binds the PD -- is already tarnished by the protagonists of PSIV?
Because of these inconsistencies, and the many plot-holes within the storyline of PSIII, it’s no wonder that Sega Ages has no need to include it in their updated versions of the Phantasy Star series when this game contradicts the relationship between the Dark Force and the Profound Darkness.

[Edit by ThePeaGuy on [TIME]1116340571[/TIME]]
