I'm not a fan of PSO but I have a question about it...

I was looking through the PSO part of the site and I have a question for you all knowing people ;)
What happend to all the spell names like "Foi, Gi Foi, Tsu, etc"? the spell sounds as if they took em out of Final Fantasy or any other generic RPG out there... What gives? the don't even sound PSish at all...
Same goes with weapons, armors, shield, etc..
I guess thats one more reason to think of these 2 online games as not part of the series..
Daren

Technically...its not really supposed to be part of the series.
The "Tech" name changes is something that I'm not sure for changing either..but Foi = Foie, not like the change was huge.
And I'm not sure how armor and weapons should sound.....Nei's Claw anyone?

The names of the Techniques got a more accurate translation. Let me look up the PSDB post explaining that...
Ah, finally found it!
I wish something like Irfanview existed for web pages...
Rune Lai posted it, here is the post:
English names first, Japanese written in strict romanji second. These are only the PSIV techs. I never bothered to romanize the names from PSII and PSIII though I suppose if there's enough interest I could do that some time.
Attack Techniques
Foi-Foie
Wat-Baata (written as Wata in romanji in PS Compendium)
Tsu-Gurantsu
Zan-Zan (not much change here)
Gra-Gurabuto
Megid-Megido
Brose-Purosedan
Vol-Boruto (it looks like the romanization should be Bolt O_o)
Support Techs
Shift-Shifuta
Ner-Shunera
Deban-Debanto
Gelun-Jerun
Doran-Doranku
Seals-Shiirisu
Rimit-Rimita
Healing Techs
Res-Resuta
Sar-Saresuta
Anti-Anti
Rimpa-Rimupasu
Arows-Arouzu
Rever-Ribaasaa
Regen-Rijenesu
Misc Techs
Ryuka-Ryuukaa
Hinas-Hiinasu
And those are all the techs!

Whoa, that's sweet! I've been wondering if anyone had ever romanized those names! A lot of things make more sense now.
"Rune Lai is the coolest!"

Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha.
See... I didn't laugh at once.
I laughed broken up!
I apologise.
Still, few people seem to remember that PSI had spells called FIRE and WIND.

Still, few people seem to remember that PSI had spells called FIRE and WIND[/quote]
And, if I'm not mistaken, they could be romanized from Japanese in the JP version to "fureeri" (Flaeli) and "hyuun" (Hewn), respectively, as seen in PS IV. (And then "tandore" was Thunder, and then "Tandle" in PS IV.)

Too true.
Well, as true as it can be, which is either wholly or not at all.
