Holy crap... What's going on!? [angry rant]

I think I may be either getting old, or socializing online is getting harder for me.

I was just looking for forums of Playstation 3 users to join in order to play online with some other people. Or maybe just rant about games.

I took a look at the official PSN forums, but most of what I saw disgusted me. Kiddies (as in the way they act) bragging over their POWERFUL AND UNBEATABLE, SEXY BLACK CONSOLE and how that white, US made trash with the green logo and the red ring of death sucks ass and will be the downfall of mankind.

Or how AWESOME they are for having lots of people in their friend lists, but if they don't connect regularly, they delete them, as they'd be using space that other hardcore gamers could WIN TO PLAY WITH THEM.

OH MY FREAKING CRAP!!! WHAT IS THIS!?

I think I'm getting old!

Some unofficial forums were even worse! Those forums are FULL of asses! If you come with a normal question, curiosity over something or an ignorant reaction to something, you get some people biting your ass over NOTHING!!

Some guy was playing with his PS3, paused the game, got up to open the door, but on the moment he wanted to resume play, he accidentally unplugged his console and thus bricked it (I dunno how, but I'm not gonna try it myself). He made the comment as a sad user who had an accident, and what did he get?

"Congratulations f***ot, you're stupid for doing that. You don't deserve a PS3. Go buy a ****box 360"...

WHAT THE HELL!?

Another asked about which games have trophies and which don't, and he got "don't ask stupid questions or GTFO"

A different one asked if Valkyria Chronicles is any good and the reply was "Whoever doesn't know lives under a rock or is a ****box lover"

My brain can't begin to understand WHY people act like that.

I mean, it's okay if you like your console a lot, take good care of it, play with it and thinks the other console is either worthless or nearly so for YOUR interests. But bashing people over it? Calling people names, treating them like idiots?

IT IS A FRAKING CONSOLE!!! A PIECE OF CONSUMER ELECTRONICS!!! NOTHING TO BE PROUD OF, UNLESS YOU BOUGHT IT WITH YOUR OWN SWEAT!!

RRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGHHH!!!

DAMMIT!

Bleh... I feel a little better after venting...

Which is why now I wish to congratulate you, bunch of people, for being that... PEOPLE.

Forums like this one are weird, it seems...

Message boards centered around one console tend to attract a lot of fanboys, yeah. But it sounds like the PS3 has even worse fanboys. Just a guess, but most fanboys who own one probably are spoiled brats, if you take into account that it cost a lot of money until recently.

Just a guess, though. Don't hurt me! :P

No, I wouldn't hurt you... And I think you may have hit the nail on the head...

It didn't cross my mind at the moment of writing my little rant...

The initial price range and the fact that just recently the PS3 got a price drop may be a factor in the behaviour of those brats.

They may be well off kids who have no idea what saving money for something means... Let alone earn it...

..........Stupid brats...

I'm a proud owner of a PS3, but I'm nothing like that. Now link me to these forums so that I may flame them and sodomize their minds.

Celest: Add me if you wish. My ID is VladImpalador. I'm not on much, and I don't have a big PS3 game collection, but eh... We might coincide in one game one day, who knows. Or if you just wanna have someone to pester while playing, I'm there. =P

Thugs: I don't think anyone's gonna fall for that... However, if you drop ANY insult AGAINST THAT INERT, BLACK DEVICE, that is useful for playing and other things, they rise up in arms as if you had immolated their mothers, murdered their fathers, raped their sisters and crippled their brothers...

Pretty ridiculous, really...

To piss them off, just tell them you ripped off a PS3 from an idiot neighbor and use SwapMagic to load ISO games into the PS3 via USB, so that you never have to support Sony financially, since they suck. Immediate flames = immediate lulz.
If you're wondering how I know this, I tend to mod/hack everything I own. Just got my Dreamcast to load burnt CD-R roms, so whoo for PSO. Now to hack the disc to connect to servers, or however that works.

Dammit... How does that work? I'm assuming that is only feasible for launch generastion PS3s, right?

Edit: Laugh at my spelling of GENERATION... Yes, I was half asleep... =P

That's a bad example, as you don't need to do any modifications to get a Dreamcast to read CD-Rs. :P

You mean the private server, right? The easiest way is to configure your Dreamcast to use a proxy that will return the IP address of the private server instead of the official server's when asked to resolve the official server's URL.

There's more info on the private server's website.

Better example:
My PSP can play anything up to N64.

Difficulty doesn't matter. The end result is still a modification in that case. :)

That would hold true for the initial release of Dreamcast where later ones Had a bit tougher time with burnt disk.

Mine must've been the newer model, since I had to use Utopia Boot Loader to add a file to the VMU, I believe, that tells the Dreamcast to read CD-R discs.

This is the thing about fucking nerdy forums on any video gaming site. They attract the most obnoxious, socially-maladroit people there. Like Mike Ripplinger, they cling onto their opinions as if they're fucking gospel. I find that you cannot engage in a healthy, friendly discussion with them - especially devout Roman Catholics like that Noah is not Lutz divvy - so I avoid them.

I used to be an avid member of a fan site called Shining Force Central years ago, but that has stopped due to the intellectual snobbery and elitism which dwells there: read posts of people like the TheTallGuy, Callea, TheEvilDead etc - members with an inflated sense of their own importance. Your posts are automatically invalid if you aren't an old regular as well as not sharing the consensus view of what is their definition of good posting - not everyone has time to indulge in political and religious discussions online. Though, saying that, I do lurk there from time to time - and people aren't all bad there.

Point is, either accept that there are wankers and morons on any community you go to, or avoid them altogether. I told Benoit to avoid SelectButton since he complained about them a few times to me, but he still dwells there.
