Thoughts? And intelligent reasoning as to why your stance is as it is?

Sorry, wrote this post kinda late.

My question is what people's thoughts on personal ownership is and why. I want intelligent opinions and what they're based upon.

Thanks!

Well you know....

A certain country in Europe has a very low to none existent crime rate because EVERYONE in the country owns a gun!

It tells you something. Everyone with a gun is a nice deterrent to crime.

I'm for owning a gun for those moments when you just need protection. That and you can show off your "piece' XD

Canada and America seem to have lots of crime due to guns. Although, I don't think that the right of owning a legal gun should be removed. The ones comiting the crimes are the ones with illegal guns, law-abiding citizens should have registered guns to defend themselves. If there were a ban on all types of registered guns and it would illegal to own one, that one not solve the problem as I said, the ones comiting the crimes have illegal, non-registered guns from elsewhere.

From what I've heard, most illegal guns in Canada are being brought there from the U.S, which in turn get most of them from Mexico and South America. It does make sense that there's fewer crimes in general in contries where owning a registered gun is legal. A criminal is less likely to make a move when he or she knows that just about everyone may be carrying a gun! I wish carrying swords in public would legal. That would be awesome. With old fashioned Japanese style katana permits just like during the samurai times!

Eh.. in a fight between a gun and a sword.. I'll take the gun.

ktxbye XD

Seriously, a sword really is no match for a gun, or even a smg.

I tend to agree with this. Legal possetion, and with the right training, is a goot idea. Also, a number of crimerinals have illegals guns (Some have had legally owned guns).

I am a little insulted by this. I would like to see a source that shows gun crimes in America are similar to Canada. Last time I checked, our gun crime rate was only about 10% in comparision.

well, here in the UK, carrying guns is SO illegal. gun crime happens, usually in the roughest areas, but is very rare and is seen as something out of the ordinary.

if i was in a fight, I'd rather not be armed, or just be armed with a wrench or something, and rely on my wits and ability to move around and think in an emergency than a weapon just as dangerous to me as to my enemy that i don't really know how to use. i've had someone attack me with a knife once and i survived by whacking them in the face and running like hell until i lost them, and it seemed to work just fine.
