wow, this is the only thread that i know of that didn't make a happy thx giving thread, wa happen? oh well i guess ill start one even though thx giving is almost over... Happy Gobble Gobble to all and to all another great new years! Since its just about over where did ppl go to celebrate there thx giving? As for me I just stayed home with family and ate. Pretty much it.

That's also what I pretty much did too. I also made some Starcraft custom maps that day. It was a pretty good time. Now that I think about it, you're right. I saw Thanks giving topics in many fourms but not this one. Canada has Thanks Giving a month before the U.S does so it has been a long while seen then for me. Nice topic Insung!

Why should every international message board have a thread on a US and Canadian holiday? Please... Not all of us care.

And we don't care that other people don't care. Mostly because if you did care, you would know that Thanksgiving in Canada and the US are celebrated at different times, and are therefore not the same holiday.

Because the majority of the members here are both Canadian & American.

And yes: not all of us care about the same national holiday, which is why I avoid these threads entirely. (Wish I could say the same for those who react to my videos negatively.)

Holidays that are at different days for different countries can be the same holiday.

It IS general discussion, so last I checked really anything clean is game. Not saying I care about thanksgiving at all, only reason I do anything for it is people invite me over and give me food that I did nothing for

Benoit, I don't feel like getting into the our history, mostly because it is not my area of expertise. So coming to American conclusions may just make me look stupid. I think I will answer your question differently. We make a thread about it, because Canada and the U.S. are part of the international community, take it or leave it

People can create the thread; that's not a problem. What I have a problem with is the attitude that each message board must have such a thread. This doesn't stop at Thanksgiving.

You don't see Belgians starting a thread for, say, the national holiday, for example.

And why don't we see the Belgians posting their holidays? They have as much freedom in forums as we do. In fact, all countries do.

The fact that some people feel the need to see a holiday thread at a plethora of message boards is most likely due to that individuals pride in celebrating the holiday and wanting to extend it's good fortune on all those who may enjoy a salutation.

Personally, I see it as pushing that country's holiday on others.

...Never mind that there's little chance for there to be another Belgian on the same message board.

I don't really mind if people talk about their country's holidays as long as it does not impose itself onto others. Which I don't think Thanks Giving does. In Romania, we don't even have Thanks Giving, I just use it as an excuse to eat lots of turkey since I'm currently in Canada. Same thing with Chirstmas and Easter, I celebrate it because it's a holiday when you can get together with family and friends. Those two are in Romania, but I'm not Chirstian or anything so I don't really have a actually purpose to celebrate them. But isn't it enough to get together with family and friends? That's the reason why I enjoy and celebrate them (somewhat).
