Rascism on a lower scale?

Something that kinda bugged me earlier today...

Do you think people judge atheletes based on the colour of their skin? I'm a senior in high school, and earlier today in gym, we were choosing up teams for football (not soccer, for any Europeans reading this) and I was the last pick. I also happened to be the only white guy. None of these people had ever seen me play before. And everyone else was either black or hispanic.

It's not like I cried over it, but as I caught the first of my three touchdowns, I started thinking. Do you suppose I was judged purely by my skin colour? Do people really just automatically assume white people are out of shape or slow or can't jump?

Just wondering....if whites can be called rascist, I don't see why it can't go both ways.

PS Sorry if I offended anybody of a different race, but I didn't specifically attack anyone HERE. Lighten up :D

I believe there's racism everywhere, and that it's not limited to any one race. So, of course it goes both ways. :)

It's not racism, it's prejudice. People look at you and because you're white they think you'd be an inferior athlete to an african american based on what they've seen in professional sports and the skin color proportions, so to speak. That's prejudging, not racism.

Well theoretically you were the only white person there..

So if the captains are black, they don't want the inferior less represented color.

They will go with their own color.. Same with the Hispanics..

You just were picked last for being different.

P.S. If it was BBall, you would never have been picked on the black side, cause "White Men can't jump" or "dunk" ROFL

It is just a stereotype that one race is better at some sports then others. It is on how you view it as racism or not. Myself, I think it is in a grey area.

I dunno. It ddin't really happen today. After they actually SAW ME PLAY I got picked right around the middle. I'm cool with that.

Khyron: I would never expect to be picked anythign more than last for BBall lmao. I'm positively dreadful at it.
