Legend of Ganondorf?

Postby Neo48 » Sat Jan 17, 2009 2:53 am

I've thought that this would make an interesting game. Since not much is known about Ganondorf since before he became the beast Ganon there would be a lot of opportunity for a good game. Perhaps he was the son of a once prosperous King in the desert and their land was enemy to hyrule. Torn by the assassination of his family, a young Ganondorf seeks the revenge. His goal becomes to inflict his pain on the inhabitants of Hyrule. He learns of the triforce from old family literature and seeks it out in order to gain the power he needs to avenge his kin. Only when bestowed this power does he become more and more consumed in hatred that he forever becomes the beastly ganon.

Or something like that...

I thought that his people that males are rare, only born every 100 years or so. So that king might have to be really old.

This assumes that all Legend of Zelda games exist in the same timeline, which they do not. :P

Well, as I see it. As going from Zelda II (Gannon is dead) and then Zelda 1 and going to Zelda 3 and then OoT is reverse chronological (It seems so). Where as Wind waker is a branch of OoC (causes two time tangents because of the age thing, dont ask.) Not sure on where to put Twilight (Since i can seen some stuff from that game to cause some elements of Zelda 3, the mirror and the twilight world becoming the influence of the dark world, Gannon/gannondorf having a doppelganger). But there might not be an official time line.

This idea doesn't assume anything as far as time. If it did, then Nintendo could just "pick" a timeline, it wouldn't really matter because the game wouldn't include Link or Zelda anyway.

What this idea is based around is Nintendo taking a complex character from a well known series and designing a game that provides fan service as well as a new experience. Who better than to do it than with Ganondorf? (Sorry Bowser, the golf and tennis has made you a softy). Also, this isn't something that a lot of game designers try and if they do try it it doesn't really turn out well (I'm looking at you Shadow). Nintendo has all the cards they need for a project to work. And when it comes to timelines, I am on the same page as the AVGN.

Of course, this is all wishful thinking. I wouldn't want to take time out of the developement of Driver's Ed Wii or Wii Mow Grass. :P
