The end?

Postby Halikus MK2 » Thu Mar 03, 2005 12:25 pm

Well It had to happen eventually. The HDD in my xbox has finally given up the ghost and died on me. This means all my PSO saves are lost forever and my xbox will no longer load anything at all. The only way to play again is to buy a whole new xbox. To say I am sad now is the biggest fcuking understatement going. I Will most likely get a nex xbox but that means all my rares are gone, 5 characters of lv 100+ lost. I need drugs to sort this feeling!

Sadly I cannot use the drive in my pc as the root of my problems is the read/write heads in the HDD. Even in a pc the disk would not work. I still have my GC so EP1 +2 could be played on that. (£30 for the game and a further £30 for the BBA) The main reason I would buy a nex xbox is that I have 20+ Xbox games and most havnt been played as PSO ruled my life. In fact the only games I own that I completed are Halo 1 + 2, KOTOR and Panzer Dragoon Orta. Roll on PSU!
[Edit by Halikus MK2 on [TIME]1109876959[/TIME]]

I don't have an xbox, but if the drive is removable, can't it be replaced? I'd think buying an HDD would be cheaper than a new xbox.
just a thought, maybe I'm totally off base.
sucks about all that save data though.

[Edit by Aholibamah on [TIME]1109883111[/TIME]]

Why, just take your HDD to one of those guys who repeair HDDs and re-sell them as new. He can copy your data to a new HDD that you can put back in your Xbox. :)

Sadly Xbox HDDS go through a special Formatting process to stop people just using any old disk. I have spoken to a guy about ghosting the data onto a second disk. sadly as the problem is a crashing head on the disk the disk is unrecoverable as the data on it can no longer be read.

You could try Blue Burst. That data is stored server side. Its only in japanese right now but the english version should be out sometime this spring.

Also a lot of modifications are made by software, so if you look hard enough I'm sure you'll eventually find both FAQs and the software needed to tamper with Xbox' HDD.

My main problem is that unless I buy a whole new xbox I will never be able to use Live again as If I swap HDDs I will get banned the instant I try to play a game as the EEPROM codes on the drive are logged and checked. The only way for me to use Live is to recover my account on to a new xbox.
JonathanF, how would I go about getting PSOBB. Iv been watching Phantasy Star Monthly and have been thinking about getting Blue Burst ever since EP4 info was released. What are the Hunters Licence fees like? Is it easy to get one and renew it? How many english speaking peeps use Blue Burst.? Will the servers be integrated when an english language version comes into the market?
Can anyone point me to a place I might be able to DL PSOBB as I like the look of it and the security it seems to provide. Also if there is any special info i need such as HL proceedures. I would be way gratefull.
